Slugs and snails are after me
DDT keeps me happy
Now I guess I'll have to tell 'em
That I got no cerebellum.
Gonna get my Ph.D.
I'm a teenage lobotomy.

Just what an already struggling town centre needs.

do they mean that normally 3m would have been spent on that day? and if so - how many of those purchases will simply be made on another day? A few of them won't - maybe - but I guess the majority will simply be made up on other days....
or am I wrong? (it's possible!)

I tend to agree with your analysis, bish, (especially if you are speaking ex cathedra). I suppose the merchnats lose "impulse" buying but I don't know what percentage of all buying that might be or how often these people get the impulse.thebish wrote:I'm always a bit sceptical about this...mummywhycantieatcrayons wrote:http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/news/507 ... That video tells you everything you need to know about the EDL.
A bunch of racist, moronic thickos.
But very very dangerous. People always smirk and "laugh" when you say things like this, but the parallels to 1930's Germany are somewhat worrying. If a far right group manages to "bag" themselves a leader with some brains/ability I'd be very worried indeed in the current climate.
I also thought that the UAF members didn't exactly look like the "menaces" they were portrayed to be, but obviously that film may not be "entirely representative".

I disagree here. The chances of us turning into Nazi Germany seem to me to be about equal as us turning into a muslim state. Which is to say, none at all.BWFC_Insane wrote:That video tells you everything you need to know about the EDL.

Maybe I'm naive, but I think that generally speaking, the majority of people in this country are quite happy just getting on with life.

Not necessarily to the same extent. But equally all it would take would be a of the EDL lot and a majority of the rest of folk doing nothing!Tombwfc wrote:I disagree here. Yes, ok, the figure itself is a very rough estimate, crudely estimated and possibly exaggerated. Town and city centre retailers as a very rough rule, tend to do as much business on a Saturday as they do on all five week days put together. All I'm saying is that losing a Saturday of trading is something that these businesses, already facing tough times because of the economy and the shift to out of town shopping, could well do without. Places selling food and drink will certainly have lost trade that won't simply be deferred to another day, as will places that sell things that can be bought out of town.Montreal Wanderer wrote:I tend to agree with your analysis, bish, (especially if you are speaking ex cathedra). Watching that video doesn't fill me with confidence that there was much free speaking by either side that was worth the trouble.

Oh I see the one you lefties have dumped us in!! If they ever get elected to real power it will be as a result of socialist policies backed up by the state interfering every where.
Social engineering is doomed to failure, to some of us, there are, like it or like it not some folk who ain;t worth looking after and paying for this is rather galling!

As for the "current climate" thats due to a global recession primarily because of poor banking decisions, where regulation of banks was deemed "innappropriate" by the right wingers in the free market.
A recession in the UK that was predicted to be far far far worse than it actually has been by financial experts, and some of those are now saying that actually you know, the government have done a pretty decent job to keep our heads above water.

Gordon Brown is a right winger? I'd give you whinger!
Decent job??? What you mean like propping up Northern Rock and all the people who put their money in it for the high interest rates, actively encouraging Lloyds TSB to buy another bum bank and put their selfs in trouble, hiking fuel duty at a time when we need the cheapest energy costs to keep prices down, building shed loads of new public buildings we ain't got trained staff to fill with, spending shedloads on the Blair witch project games the only legacy that will leave is a feckin' big bill we will all end up paying for And finally wasting loads of cash overseas fighting other peoples wars just to look good to the Yanks, oh nearly forgot paying the French to build aircraft carriers!
Success

If that lots a success thank God we didn't fail.

Hobo chilled and mellow, puts his feet up on the rack, switches the electric chair to extra low voltage so he can warm his ass, sips his morning cup of bile, and peers into the darker recesses of his life, at the imaginary but, to him, frightening spectres of the lefties, scroungers and immigrants, many of whom seem to be dressed as nannies. And feels... rather galled. Galled??? What about the noose and heavy machine guns of only three days ago?Hobinho wrote:Which climate is that?BWFC_Insane wrote:That video tells you everything you need to know about the EDL.

Financial experts predicted the entire banking system could collapse, leaving us back in the dark ages of bartering with sheep and cattle. They also predicted unemployment to be fair higher than it has been.Hobinho wrote:The Labour PartyBWFC_Insane wrote:Eh? Which "lefties" would that be? Whatever you say we're still going and things haven't ground to a halt as was predicted and we're coming slowly out of it and things haven't been as bad as everyone said. So is that not a reasonable result?
Anyone who thinks the labour party represents the "left" anymore is clearly greatly confused.

We were a few days off the banks going bust, they then had to get bailed out by our money, and are still giving themselves bonuses, for running a failing business. Gordy was CoE for a decade, and he had no idea what was on the horizon......decent job indeedBWFC_Insane wrote:Financial experts predicted the entire banking system could collapse, leaving us back in the dark ages of bartering with sheep and cattle.
