i am a keen follower of the poached variety, but a perfectly done boiled chucky beats it every time.

Guys, guys. lets not fall out over two delightful products. Poached when I can be arsed, boiled when I can't. Its like arguing over Pele and Maradonna.

Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Or just poach them. No issues with shell, yolk is runny as long as you only do them for two minutes and not be too rough with them (therefore breaking the seal), and you can administer the salt and pepper (and ketchup, which you can't have with boiled!) a lot more easily. And it's still dunkable for your soldiers.

Unless, as I do, just serve with a muffin. No other type of egg comes close.
is that a blueberry muffin or a chocolate chip!

Problem? :conf:

We should have knocked off all the Taliban leaders before they went into hiding, far cheaper and saved servicemen's lives!
I ain't no defender of Israel but mess with them and you know what their reply will be.

That's how the keep unemployment figures looking okay-ish.

You can blag a doctor (which isn't hard), and earn more than double the JSA for doing it. Not too shabby when you've got free rent and don't have to pay the extortionate council tax etc

I've stopped getting annoyed about things like that now, it's just the way things are.

You know it's not all like that. There are some genuine people caught up in this and trust me it ain't easy.
The NHS don't give a shiney about giving them treatment to help them work, in fact if they are on benefits you get the feeling they lose any interest in doing anything else except drawing treatment out.
The DSS do nowt to help with any retraining to get jobs that will suite peoples disabilitys except ship them off for medicals they will fail because of the speed of treatment (that is unless they are part of the goverments bling policy for youth training).
Hobo may come across as sod you etc but I do know genuine folk caught in the trap and beleive me for them its no joke!

HMRC being on strike... Not that I blame them, the government is making heavy redundancies in this sector, but wants all staff to sign a new contract stating that will only get 2 years worth of pay off regardless of how long they have been there. I was talking to a lady today who had been for 29 years, she's not striking, but she's not signing the contract either... I don't blame her really

Anyway, the issue is because I can't get hold of any fooker there and I'm getting mithered by my customers for something in which only customs can help me with... They're on strike!! Just accept it!! It's not my fault!

Is that 2 years of actual pay or the statutory rate?

Doesn't seem too bad a deal. I worked for my last firm for seventeen years and got six-months pay and the option to work three months notice or take garden leave. They'd kept me in employment for all that time, paid my wages and were very good on sick-leave (which I only took the once when I smashed my leg up) payment and holiday allowances. Cake and eat it is a thing of the past these days. I don't find that a bad deal at all.

Sadly, I've met a few who seemed happy that they were ripping off the system, but it's a sad case of affairs when you're happy getting a mere £100 a week & a free council flat!

It is really easy to get away with it, however. I asked a lad (who's a hippy) and he just saw his doc, complained about depression and doubled his precious dole money.

I've had the misfortune to have to claim incapacity benefit in the past.

How anyone can live off it is beyond me. I don't believe the stories that people are living the high-life off it.

Actual. As is their current rate which is not capped.

Overall, on the range, one of the better ones. I know better ... some way better ... but a lot which are very very much below even the revised, lower offer.

Add that to the pension plan which is also vastly higher than normal mortals get, an earlier retirement age and an almost endemic inability of their management to deal with sickness absence and performance issues & these workers periphery terms are exceptionally good. Basic pay rates are normally lower than you find in blue-chip companies, but on a par with normal business and better than most small employers.

The arguement is about these being changed .... and, even if these aren't changed "grandfathering" them so introducing new employers on lower more affordable lower terms.

All other Civil Service unions have accepted the changes the PCS have not.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

I'm sure it is. But fiscal amounts aside, and as as states - it surely serves the government's agenda regarding the jobless figures. In fact, Darling even boasted in his speech today about Labour bringing down the unemployment figures. Here we seem to be able to see through a painfully thin veneer, no?

Claiming incapacity benefit doesn't necessarily mean that people aren't working.

It just means they're claiming incapacity benefit...

You - and I suspect the benefits agency.

They'd probably welcome names and addresses too.

Incapacity though better than dole isn't that great. You can claim income support which you can't on JS, which entitles you to free dentists and all that gubbins.
The real trick is to get yourself on disability. Then you can live quite comfortably. I've been looking for a way in for years!
