Running into a brick wall with family tree, have one person (Bernard F Wibling) who's name only exists on a marriage cert, was never born, never died!
Another (we know he up and went) but cannot find anything about him, and his name is Henry Williams which is a tad common
And last one (surname Houckham) the records just seem to have dried up
Not a great loss but these were all the ones I wanted to trace the lines on, just to find out the origins of the Houckham and Wibling names (someone thinks they are Dutch or Belgium and to find out when our lot moved from Wales to the East End of that London
I have found that my mums side back in the 1600;s (I think have a poor memory) does contain a naughty Baptist Pastor who rebelled against the Kings orders and held secret religious meetings
Thats about as exciting as it gets for me, the rest are labourers and farm hands!

My dog (proper 57) had his anal glands emptied once and yes the smell is something to behold!!

Sunday is Palm Sunday.
I shall be preaching with a focus on the fact that Jesus was perceived to be a leader of sorts of a subjugated people under Roman Occupation - and how he marched triumphally into Jerusalem whilst the occupying power stood close by at the Antonia Garrison - conscript soldiers with hands clenched tightly around their spears fearing an uprising and potential bloodbath as had happened several times before when other wannabee Messiah's had marched into Jerusalem...
and how the gospels tell us that the children were pushed to the front to sing psalms of political liberation - the freedom songs of their time - "Hosanna, hosanna, blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord." it was thought that the Romans would not attack the children - and they didn't (in the main).
and it rang bells with how the children are often pushed to the front of conflicts - and how over the years they have been the stone-throwers - and how in the 21st century this is still happening - and how in Israel the soldiers seem to take no obviously stringent precautions over the potential deaths of children walking home from school through this everyday battlefield - several are simply caught in the crossfire and shot dead.
anyway - this makes me angry - here's one such girl - a Palestinian schoolgirl walking past Israeli border police officers on her way home from school during clashes between Israeli troops and Palestinian stone-throwers in the Shuafat refugee camp in the West Bank near Jerusalem.

when warned that the chanting disciples might get him in trouble - Jesus replied - "if these people were to keep quiet - the very stones would shout out loud."

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Really tough being confronted by the sharp, crystal, diamond of a mind that the resident tramp with cider hangs out to dry limply on the line...Hobinho wrote:This![]()

Numbers obviously concern you...
So, please tell us how many innocent people hanged you are prepared to countenance for the greater good of society...
And, having done this, please volunteer the numbers of your own family, ages, gender etc you are prepared to sacrifice for the good of all...
I note that the surviving victim of this criminal's vile attack expressed his happiness with the verdict and sentence at today's trial - despite his heartbreak at the loss of his lover...
Do you think he'd welcome your 'support'?

In the USA the joke is 20yrs on death row, now if anyone wants to get upset at torture.......
There would in the first year be quite a few hangings which at 25 quid a throw should more than pay for the cost AND go in a fund if the odd innocent one drops. Our resident legal Eagle would probably some where come across some figures relating to how many innocents have been dropped or incarcerated since year X when records started (If not they should be made to find out as a reminder of their obligations and responsibility) otherwise I guess I'd better start researching.
Ain't New York's now lower than London per capita? I surmise that due to pressure from various groups and countries (including no doubt a large bunch of blackmail over aid or finance packages from the big financial hitters) a large number of countries like our own have stopped the drop and those that remain are the worlds badlands so not really a fair comparison.
I would put money on a massive reduction in Murder and serious crime within 2-3 years if we got serious with all the murderers, rapists, Pedo's and brain dead street gang members who think the law does not apply to them, lets clear one thing up I do not want a police state, merely the rights of the majority of peaceful law abiding (well mainly) citizens to be enshrined as number one priority.

Having lived in an era when the death penalty actually existed in this country, I often wondered at the mind-set of People like Albert Pierepoint, the official hangman. ( His father and uncle also held the position) I know the system dictated the victims and not him, but I couldn't do that job for any amount of money. The added thought that someone may actually be innocent would make it even more of a barrier. The system saw him just as a tool of justice, but even the thought of administering that is beyond me. He executed apparrently, around 450 people including Nazi war criminals. The Judge's black cloth and the death sentence were reality in my youth and that's one part of it that I'd rather not remember in any "good old days" recollections. Unfortunately, then, it was the accepted norm. Barbaric.

So - you think all of these should be hanged... And, you think that... and it would be such a quintessential plant hobo 'solution'... their goods might form a fund specially set up for the families of the totally innocent if they are killed by the state... Like that is fair does all round... And, best of all... You think this is a form of justice???Hobinho wrote:thebish wrote:Hobinho wrote:This![]()
