Why thankyou, really can't complain at £4. Thought I’d try and sample some Culture myself, so went round the British Museum last night, really fancied the V&A but only the British opens late Thursdays, most other museum & galleries late nights are on a Friday when I’m choo choo-ing my way back north!
To be honest my only preconception was to check out the curved domed glass roof on the Great Hall, and apart from the Hoa Hakananai'a – it was the most interesting bit. All those Egyptian, Greek & Roman statues and carvings... meh.
I have been to Rome, and Egypt and loved it, well the former at least – but displays in the museum just didn’t seem that impressive out of their natural surroundings.
I did like the display showing all the drugs the average human takes in their life time (legal, medication anyway) it showcases the life spans of one man and one woman from birth to his death, and she is in her 90's apparently, but both had some serious illness or other - they had taken millions of pills!

That was pretty much my reaction to the British museum as well. Make sure you go to the V&A though. There is some stunning stuff in there! I particularly remember a hall full of absolutely gigantic carved columns!General Mannerheim wrote:Thought I’d try and sample some Culture myself, so went round the British Museum last night, really fancied the V&A but only the British opens late Thursdays, most other museum & galleries late nights are on a Friday when I’m choo choo-ing my way back north!

Tell you what, me and matey boy went in the Ox after Man U away, and the nosebag looked and smelled absolutely delicious. That said, we'd been on th'ale all afternoon and had only had a burger apiece, so perhaps weren't in the best nick to pass judgement.boltonboris wrote: Feck Akhbars and have your nosebag in The Ox.. It's had a bit of an overhaul, used to be a smelly, student kind of mosh pit place, but it's moved a little more upmarket, still a proper town pub, but now with the grub to matchBruce Rioja wrote:Tell you what, me and matey boy went in the Ox after Man U away, and the nosebag looked and smelled absolutely delicious. Ah - I read about this in last night's paper. It read that her daughter saw it first time around and has now dragged the clan up from the Isle of Wight (?).William the White wrote:The last night of And Did Those Feet - and the audience includes 16 members of David Jack's family, including his daughter and his nephew.
They'd better like it!
Then...
I'm sure they'll absolutely love it - it's an excellent production, William.

It went well. So did the party. I am still hungover!

Next - for the theatre goers amogst us - a little piece on Comedians, which I think hits the mark (I'm not talking about this production, I'm going to the press night on fri and will give an opinion then, but about the play, which I've seen twice before on stage and, perhaps, not sure, but maybe also on TV).

Looking forward to it myself as well, although I haven't booked yet.
Given last week's Frankie Boyle kerfuffle the timing's quite pertinent too.
Also, I notice that they're doing Blue Remembered Hills at the Little Theatre in May, and I quite fancy that one too.
I'm pretty sure that I haven't been into the Little Theatre since school, and in all likelihood Primary School at that.
