What are you watching tonight?

Watched Saw I and Saw II this week, yes I am behind the times. The first one was alright but I can't believe there's now seven of these? Hollywood loves a cash-cow franchise I suppose.

I caught a couple of episodes of 'Trawlermen' earlier on this evening. Has anyone else seen this? The next time my world's falling apart because my plans have been suddenly altered in some way - I'll try and remember what these guys are going through in the name of earning their living.
One bit that really pricked my ears up was after one of the boats had sold its haul at auction, the narrator said "It's been a bumper sale for them - with each crew member earning around £1,300 for the ten-day trip".
BUMPER?
For those in peril on the seas and no mistake!

Not seen Trawlermen, but watched a few RNLI programmes. Sea-going guys are the real heroes of this world. A quote from Patrick O'Brien sums it up for me: "Just a nine-inch plank between him and eternity." The oceans are terrifying places.Bruce Rioja wrote:I caught a couple of episodes of 'Trawlermen' earlier on this evening. Has anyone else seen this? Exactly that. It's low-cost to make so they churn one out every Halloween. I found the first one very clever and very disturbing, and every subsequent one cranks up the ghastly traps and less of a story.Athers wrote:Watched Saw I and Saw II this week, yes I am behind the times. It certainly is a grim existence
The sea bits OK, but living in Aberdeen, fcuk me
Seriously though, the real bummer is when they catch the wrong fish and have to chuck 'em back!

Aye Charlie is why I ask. Had a catch up of his column recently where he raves again. Currently watching lots of 'outnumbered', which really is brilliant, those kids are fantastic, and Lost, which is decent distraction on revision breaks. Mad Men is one I've thought about watching for a while. Seems to divide people. Might check a couple out.thebish wrote:Prufrock wrote:Is this Mad Men any good?
raved about by many - raved about by Charlie Brooker (which was what prompted me to have a look)
I never lasted more than 20mins without nodding off... well filmed etc - but simply did not engage me - I was not interested in the lives of the characters...

Whoa just started watching that, what the fook is Mr Brooker's barnet all about.General Mannerheim wrote:did anyone see that Charlie Brooker panel show thingy last night?
WTF was that gladiators show they were on about? looked BRILLIANT!!!
EDIT: DUUUUUDE. That looks like possibly the best TV programme ever. Favourite bit being the 'this is historically accurate' bit. God I wish it was, my degree would have been WAAAAY better.

I saw that tonight on OD. Was it just me, or did Charlie Brooker just not look like he was trying as much as he usually does? Just didn't make me laugh as much as last time.Prufrock wrote:Whoa just started watching that, what the fook is Mr Brooker's barnet all about.General Mannerheim wrote:did anyone see that Charlie Brooker panel show thingy last night?

Boo expectations for The Prisoner were not met. Watched the Fringe for the first time too, that hasn't got me yet but looks like it's gonna get much more interesting.
Watched the first ever episode of 24, the editing did my head in, why do I need 2 different angles of a man on a phone on one half of the screen.

Outnumbered did nothing for me, I don't find kids funny at all, three posh kids and a posh dad might hit the BBC demographic but it left me wanting to get the clippers on the kids hair & for them to shut up.
That mad 300-type show, on the other hand, looked brilliant. Nude women, ultra-violence and death, death, death

Troll and proud of it.
