Blackpool make the playoffs!

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

WtW...I suspect gidong is referring to talk of PC Plod not following the rule book, thus giving the accused a loophole

I was there for the game, but I didn't think it was the game AW broke his leg

Always thought they were a season apart

Is that what happened? Do you have a source? I'd like to do a little more research on it.

Why should Gidong be worried about posting that? :conf:

I agree with the Apache - it was a ghastly day. I didn't get home until very late because the police pulled over and searched every car as it left Blackpool. they asked the driver - a good mate - to open the boot. At which he made the mistake of asking : Why, are you looking for a boot boy? Yanked out of car, slapped around etc... he opened the boot...

No point in bringing it into this discussion after all these years though, is there? I presume that the guy would like to get on with his life without his name appearing here. It's over 35 years ago, after all.

It was the same game. Waldron did not play in the fixture in either the previous (March 2 1974) or following (March 6 1976) fixtures at Blackpool. On August 24 1974 he played, wearing the number 8 shirt. He was substituted, being replaced by Stuart Lee. The substitution was down to the broken leg. If happened about 15/20 minutes before half-time.

And yes, I should get out more.

And I've no intention of naming him. I was just saying, like, that's all. Grumpy Bollocks.

Another thing is, if Blackpool do go up, the division is chock full of local derbies: Merseyside, Manchester, North East, Birmingham, Black Country, North London, West London, 4 more London derbies, and 6 Lancashire derbies. If they do come up, no team is any more than about 15 miles from their nearest neighbours.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Depends. The problem with the term 'half-caste' is the word 'half' implies inferiority, witness how people of mixed race often feel as if they don't belong, as it is difficult to be part of two different cultures, and remain accepted. Cracking poem about the word by John Agard,

John Agard - Half Caste

John Agard Excuse me
standing on one leg
I’m half-caste.

Explain yuself
wha yu mean
when yu say half-caste
yu mean when Picasso
mix red an green
is a half-caste canvas?
explain yuself
wha yu mean
when yu say half-caste
yu mean when light an shadow
mix in de sky
is a half-caste weather?
well in dat case
england weather
nearly always half-caste
in fact some o dem cloud
half-caste till dem overcast
so spiteful dem don’t want de sun pass
ah rass?
explain yuself
wha yu mean
when yu say half-caste
yu mean tchaikovsky
sit down at dah piano
an mix a black key
wid a white key
is a half-caste symphony?

Explain yuself
wha yu mean
Ah listening to yu wid de keen
half of mih ear
Ah looking at yu wid de keen
half of mih eye
an when I’m introduced to yu
I’m sure you’ll understand
why I offer yu half-a-hand
an when I sleep at night
I close half-a-eye
consequently when I dream
I dream half-a-dream
an when moon begin to glow
I half-caste human being
cast half-a-shadow
but yu must come back tomorrow
wid de whole of yu eye
an de whole of yu ear
an de whole of yu mind.

an I will tell yu
de other half
of my story.
In a world that has decided
That it's going to lose its mind
Be more kind, my friends, try to be more kind.

A thought provoking poem. But "The problem with the term "half-caste" is the word "half" implies inferiority" is a load of old bollocks.

In my humble opinion William, of course.

Did that one in School.. I think it's been taught for about 15 years now.. It was certainly still on the curriculum when I left in 2000
