Aren't we to believe that the hard-working in this country vote Tory? I'd p*ss meself if they were all Labour Marginal victories. Wonder what slaphead would make of that?

"Polling stations were badly prepared for the number of people who turned up to vote" - quote on ITV about 2 mins ago

Young people don't bring their polling cards with them (which is not a requirement anyway) - and so it has taken officials a lot longer to verify people's identity - allegedly - from Manchester Withington

So lots of people who turned up in plenty of time were made to queue for ages - and then turned away.

When does it stop being scandalous

Would it be scandalous if 10k turned up at 9.55?

No voting papers and different application of the rules is what concerns me

It's deeply unsatisfactory - I can't believe the problem has been repeated in so many places when the turnout has been unremarkable, even if improved.

Makes me laugh hearing Harriet 'court of public opinion' Harman talk about legal challenges - what a relief to know that brains of her calibre are on the case.

Well, maybe it should be. If we can be bothered, then so should anyone wanting to vote. That said, not enough ballot papers is a total joke. No, make the whole thing a total joke. Lists not updated, no ballot papers, people not allowed to vote and the amount of time the country has been preparing for this election. Vote for Punch and fcuking Judy would make more sense.

Well maybe no mills, but plenty of working class people who really should be voting labour, lets not forget that the only reason for voting tory is lower taxes, which in reality means a worse nhs, public sevices, etc etc

Great. Then the Conservatives can drive home their financial advantage by pissing yet more money away on shit advertising.

Why, in the circumstances, can't an extra day be allowed to clear the voting problem up. Not likely it could take longer than that. It's only the country's future after all.

In some parts of the country there have been queues for over 2 hours

And then the returning officer says - you should have turned up earlier.

As John Reid said on ITV - Pompous election Officials should do their job and not blame the public for teying to exercise their democratic rights.

I suspect there could be much more on this - some of the constituencies with problems have been very marginal - and if that swings the whole election there will be legal challenges - like Florida 2000
What goes around may still come around

There's some attraction in that, but presumably in every election there has to be a cut off time?

Like Caps says, it's the fact that nobody seems to know the fooking rules from place to place that is most worrying. And if you haven't got enough ballot papers to accommodate a few % rise in turnout then what hope is there?

Just had some senior Electoral process woman on who said that the law is very simple. If your ballot paper hasn't gone in the box by 10.00pm then it doesn't go in.

So "reasonable" decisions like letting people into the room & then vote after were illegal. The same where the doors were kept open a bit after 10.00pm because there were people queuing. Not the one's where doors were closed on people.

People queuing late because it was raining, because the queue's were long when they first came, because the processors were slow ... none of it matters. It's well enough understood in fecking X-Factor, so why it's difficult here I fail to see.

It's a different matter where the Electoral Roll's wrong (as claimed about Chester) ... & the reasons for that have to be investigated. It also has to be shown to be correct, by the way. Time will tell.

Also needing investigating is where there is said that there were too few Ballot Papers. That's staggering IF TRUE. Each Polling Centre should have precisely the same number of papers as names on the register.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
"I understand you are a very good footballer" ... "I try".

It might be on.

Early evidence of Lib Dem success in LD v Cons fights though, which is what I was worried about.
