I likes a curry, I does

But Spice Valley isn't a Curry House, though, is it?

It serves food of the sub continent

Sometimes I just like a curry, others the 'experience'

Dependent on mood, I'd recommend SV, Ashoka and The Pavilion (not had a bad feed at any of 'em)

Speaking of good feeds, is there only me loves La Tama in Ainsworth?

I know

I think its location is what makes it such a surprise

You'd just expect a Nandos type place

Very true.

By the way, the one in Horwich - is it to the same standard? Do we know?

Not tried - but it comes recommended by a friend who doesn't know the Valley one (which is only a little schlep from ours - so doubt I'll ever try the horwich one).

What was it before it was spice valley - wasn't it some chain-type place?

Tried Ashoka in Harwood - anniversary meal in March - and was fine food... but not as good... Is this the one you mean?

Is The Pavilion the one on blackburn rd opposite Asda - tried that years ago to get a pretty vile hot n greasy experience... Not been back since...

Seconded. Any time I came back when I first moved down, this was the first port of call my Dad insisted on.

Lovely sunny day, cooking for my big sis's birthday. Steak and chips with a nice crisp salad, dusted off a bottle of 2001 Chateau MacCarthy Saint-Estephe. Very nice, though still a bit young (which is a nice surprise, as theres still a couple of bottles left). And then of course A big block of Roquefort with some fig chutney and a 2005 "Brumaire" Pacherenc du Vic Bilh. Glorious.

Make hay whilst the sun shines they say, cos the weather turns sh*t tommorow, apparently.

Bought a slow cooker about 6 months ago for £15 in the Sainsbury's sale, and I must say I'm blown away. It's amazing.

I'm no cook, never have been, but this thing makes me feel like one.

Beef stew? No problem.

Sausage casserole? On its way!

Fish chowder? Coming right up!

Butter chicken? Hand me my garam masala!

And the best thing is popping it on in the morning, and coming home from work.

Through the door. "Ooooh- that smells nice. Who's cooking? Ahhh - that'd be me."

Sorted.

Chicken chasseur - falls off the bone. Go forth and make one, good Sir. You'll be delighted (and if you're not I'll come round and eat it for you 8) )

Only ever had that once. Unfortunately it happened to be the very day I found out I was violently allergic to Triogesic tablets, and as such the very smell of Chicken Chasseur, by association, makes me feel sick to the stomach :(

I usually have a look on the BBC's food site when it comes to recipes, always selecting the one that requires the least fannying about.

Don't be embarassed about that.... If it's good enough for professional chefs, it's good enough for me

Yesterday, I had to prepare tandoori lamb chops, which then had to sit in their marinade for 24 hours.

Today, we'll get to scoff 'em.

Can't wait. :-)

anything that takes 24 hours of looking forward to, usually disappoints! Kidding

today we are off to Grenache for an anniversary. Great food and a great wine list. Cannot wait!!

Apparently my tandoori lamb chops are ok - even the mother in law likes 'em. :-)

I think I'll go for the tried and tested today - watch the England match, get 'em pi$$ed, they won't notice.

Enjoy Grenache - have you got a Season Ticket off Huss yet? :-)
