The worst EVER...................British accent
A guy with a xxxxxxxxx British accent asked you who will win the World cup, hoping to start up a long painful on the ears debate. Which accent above others makes you want to shove something hard and blunt into their face repeatedly?
YOU CLIMB OBSTACLES LIKE OLD PEOPLE FXCK!!!!!!!!!!!

In terms of SOTWA's offer, neatly hijacked here... no british accent actually irritates me... I'm interested how, in such a small place, we manage such an incredible diversity of accent... and has this been the case for thousands of years? Or is it comparatively recent?
also, i note, amongst students from many different parts of the country there's a kind of amalgam youth speak, partly to do with region, partly to do with vocabulary, and partly - and more commonly - to do with inflection...

The eventual breakdown will be mockernee, southwest, and something-north-of-birmingham. This is (according to some immense study that I can't be arsed finding or defending if you don't believe me) is the path we are headed down. According to them, not me.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

This is at least plausible. Consider that, currently, you can go to Bolton and hear a distinct accent. You can travel 10 or so miles to Blackburn and hear a weird accent where people say things like "Marrrrrrs barrrrrrrr" and "carrrrrrrr parrrrrrrrrrk".Lord Kangana wrote:The eventual breakdown will be mockernee, southwest, and something-north-of-birmingham. Given the amount of world-wide communication and travel, how much longer can this last? 10 miles and that sort of difference in accent? Even people in Blackburn may learn to speak proper eventually.

This. They all sound like Benny from Crossroads - dumb fecks.ratbert wrote:Come and visit the Black Country (Wolverhampton, Dudley, Walsall, etc) for real accent horror. Brummie sounds like RP in comparison.
As for duff film accents, either Michael Caine trying to do American in anything or Don Cheadle doing cockney in the Ocean's Eleven series.
