Where are you going tonight?

Was dragged by the missus down to the big screen they've put up at Spinningfields to watch Cocktail last night; wasn't really looking forward to it but I must say it was actually a pretty good evening and a really good atmosphere, must have been upwards of 250 people there and the rain held off till late on.

There's a bar and a barbecue on site, but of course the prices are scandalous - £4 for a baguette?! At least you can take all your own chairs, blankets, food and non-alcoholic drink though.

Obviously the film's not the best but there's some really good ones coming up through summer plus all the non-England World Cup games so I can go and watch some them on my lunch break!

Sorry for the lengthly post, but for anyone who's interested here's the lineup for film showings:

All Screenings at 8.30pm unless stated

They're showing them down at Castlefield next to the canal - i think its to do with security issues but I couldn't say what they mean by that. I watched the quarter final against Portugal in 2006 down there it was alright.

Got back to Bolton just in time to see Bradshawgate turn into a scene off Braveheart after that match, still not sure what prompted all those people to charge down the street it was manic

Cricket this afternoon. Hung over from last night, pissing down with rain, and my last game for my club. What a way to go out!

Got called off at noon in the end. Had a couple at the club, then disappeared off to watch Saints, and got back to have a few beers watching ducks on the outfieild. Literally.

Off to Chester Zoo today. Bit too near to Wales for my liking, but can always leave the gate open on the Lion enclosure.

Today I was mostly wandering around London following the elephant trail...

there were hundreds of them - here's a flavour...

(two I liked) - not sure if it is "art"!

Where do you find out about all this sh*t thats going on bish? (mostly serious question, reserving the right to p*sstake should the opportunity arise).
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

They're all being auctioned off for the charity aren't they? Wonder what the going rate is?

fck, that must have been busy today.

Did you see my Meercat ? I sponsor one. Not that I've ever got much trade by it !!

My family paid to have one sponsored in my name last birthday ... honest. My name was to go on a plaque. I'm unsure which one it is though, or whether it allows be to bring it home at the end of term.

It's a good 5 miles from the Welsh border btw ... you'll survive, bach dynnon hen.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

I went with my girlfriend on a weekday a few weeks ago... was rammed even then. And, I hate to be a snob, but bloody hell, Chester Zoo attracts a fair number of people who are far more 'interesting' than any of the animals...

There were only three meerkats there when we went - as a sponsor, do you know if this is the norm?

Yeh, pretty much. I've got exams this week, then leaving Liverpool for a while. In Aus first for 9 weeks, then Blackpool for 12 months so wouldn't be the most practical having a 150 mile round trip every Saturday for a bit of creeekit. Will have to find somewhere else when I get back!

Wasn't too bad by volume of people. As Mummy said though, some of the people were way more interesting than the animals (other than extinction seems like a reasonable approach).

I wasn't specifically looking for B.T.Clown as a Meerkat sponsor, but nearly all the enclosures seem to have a fairly prominent list of adoptee/sponsor names, which I hadn't spotted being quite so prominent, on previous visits. :-)

There are about 30 & they breed easily too, so maybe they were hiding.

Whether on was 'mine' isn't easy. They all look so very similar unless you spend a lot of time with them as you then notice differences both physically and in sociability. Once you do that you can "compare the meerkat" !!!

Where's my coat gone ? .... it's already outside ??

Chester Zoo and Knowsley Park (along with Tatton Park) have reached the level of Motorway Cafes in the rip-off stakes. Overpriced entrance, rubbish food, tat, and general shodiness (it's only the public, fxk em) standards. Add queuing for car parks, general traffic congestion etc, and it's hardly worth the effort anymore. Leave the poor miserable animals in the wilds where they should be.

Morning all.
