Benitez .... prick

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

I suspect it'll tail off as we hear less about him as he works his wonders in Italy. However, the title is "Benitez .... Prick", not "Benitez, that guy who manages Liverpool ... Prick", so I suggest we keep it open & revisit it from time to time.
Now he is in Italy, we could just change the thread title to "Benitez...puntura"

Should the thread title not be changed to, 'Benitez.....cazzo'?

The man has obviously got a certain amount of cless then Blurred, I'll grant you that.

Why has your club paid out big money to get him to leave only for him to walk into another top job - and LFC are trying to persuade Fulham's manager or King Kenny to take over at Anfield then? Sounds like insanity to me.

Oh - and welcome back!

EDIT - He's still a prick though! :D

A question about 95% of Liverpool fans have been asking themselves since it happened. I just don't get it. It's a ridiculous decision from just about every angle.

Yep, sums it up pretty well.

Not like you to be so niaive Zulu !

Never mind the £4m a year wage ...& all the other bits, he's just received £6m to leave a job & go straight into another.

He fancies leaving with a swagger & keeping some fans on-side so he donates £96,000.

OK, nice gesture, but, in context, that's 1.5% of the £6m. As it's a voluntary donation to a charity he'll het 40% tax relief.

So it's approx. 1% of the £6m he got for misperforming in a job.

Fair enough, he didn't need to, but it's a small price to pay for a bunch of impressionable fools to say "aw ... see, what a nice guy he was really !".

OK, OK ... I admit it ... I didn't like him.

... oh, & please God let them appoint Kenny Dalgleish.

That would be equal to Newcastle appointing Kenny Keggle.

Don't like the prick but can't fault him donating to the Hillsborough families.

If you were made redundant, receiving a severance package of £25,000 & walked straight into another job do you think that donating £285 to a favourite charity would cause you very much hardship ?

That, tax break (for him) accounted for, is the equivilant.

That's before you ensured it was done such that it hit the news headlines.

So, whoop-whoop, Rafa's all heart !

Wasnt't he one of the few player/staff not to get robbed during his time there? Probably just a kick back.

Dagleish. Please let it be true. I was shocked when I was trying to wind a friend up and he thought it wouldn't be that bad a decision. My response was "But what about Little Sam".

It's not so much the money, but also the symbolism of the people he's given it to, and the amount. And the fact it was voluntary. And the fact that I can't think of (m)any other managers who'd do anything remotely similar in any circumstances.

I think it was a touch of class, personally, but you can whinge on about him being a tosspot if it makes you feel better.

mmmm .... you've got me there.

This is my point ....
Correct, he didn't have to.
Correct, it was voluntary.
Correct it was a symbol.

But that symbol, in my tremendously biased view, was more the symbol of him leaving the city having people say "aw, what a good guy". Self marketing.

The amount, to a man of his means, was f-all.

If he'd wanted to really make an impact £1m would have been both symbolic and substantial.

Thanks. That makes all the difference, coz I wouldn't have done otherwise.

So is this the thread where I should make fun of Pepe Reina? Or do I need to open a new one?

That was a total cock up. Liverpool were the better side with 10 men and really deserved the victory. Looked like the ref had been watching too much world cup football.
