Sorry to be so late on this... that vid really should be watched... 4 mins in we see the main EDL spokesman talk about our 'vibrant multi ethnic community' that the EDL supposedly welcomes... seconds later we see the skins, drunks, smackheads, tattoo-braggers and racists, some close to braindead, that actually are their grassroots, shouting about the f*ckin pakis... Here is the truth...kissoffboardy wrote:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=np09fgMgpN4
A non-partisan video has been put up on youtube and you can see snippets of the speechmaking on there. You can also see quite clearly the UAF trying to get into the opposite enclosure early in the day, before the main body of EDL support arrive, and also the disgusting, and more frighteningly the unashamed racism of some of those standing on the EDL side.
The speeches of the UAF come across much more as sloganeering, whilst the EDL are clearly orchestrated to sound rational and measured. However, the interviews with the members of the public on the EDL side contradict that. Even the girl discussing censorship of comedy at the end comes across as not that well informed and having leapt to ill thought out conclusions, as there are plenty of things in comedy that the public's kneejerk mentality would deny you mentioning.
Just look at Frankie Boyle and the Queen's fanny, or Ross/Brand and the affair of the ex skinny 'Spanish' waiter. Both of those things were complained about and looked into, I'm not sure how a joke about Islam on the Beeb that some one complained about would be treated any different, and my memory of the various satire shows suggests it's not an area that someone like Boyle would see as 'out of bounds'.
This is the EDL... Watch...

What could be more "vibrant" than openly discussing issues that affect both.William the White wrote:Have a watch - make your mind up... There really is no place in this world for either bunch TBH, the laughable thing is both sides will claim to be men of principles!!William the White wrote:Have a watch - make your mind up... I don't doubt William but the "priciples" of some of his fellow demonstrators leave a lot to be desired.
In this tramps eyes the biggest problem is caused by social engineers who go way past the "no one should be persecuted for their colour or creed" I can understand people resenting those that do not contribute to sociaty but there are enough out there who claim this country as their own and contribute nowt!
The guiding rule should be "you put nowt in you get nowt out!" and this should apply to all citizens of whatever race colour or creed.
Hobo's world, tough but fair!

And nooses and heavy machine guns. And mushroom clouds over Afghanistan. And definitely, however bizarre this may seem, no camels...Hobinho wrote:There really is no place in this world for either bunch TBH, the laughable thing is both sides will claim to be men of principles!!William the White wrote:Have a watch - make your mind up... Couldn't say fairer than that...
And in today's news, our newest local councillor is already stamping her mark.
Ms Qureshi was on the UAF front line at the protest against the EDL’s rally in Victoria Square on March 20 and is leading the new national campaign calling on police not to prosecute left-wing protesters.
So it's okay to start a riot if you're left-wing then?! What a pleb, she's already making me miss Ruth 'I'll take that massive golden handshake before being employed by one of the banks we bailed out' Kelly.

That sums a great deal up in one, vacuous, one-eyed campaign.as wrote:And in today's news, our newest local councillor is already stamping her mark.

Many moons ago on here I referred to liberal (small 'l') fascism. Well, here it is. "We can do what the feck we like because we are 'good' people with 'good' intent ... & if you disagree then you are bad people, with bad intent & so we can do whatever we want".
Bllx.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

If someone disagrees with a left wing cause they wheel out an accusation which, if true, would be indefensible .... ie to dare to question the fascistic anti-fascists is racism.
Well, no it's not.
Can't be going around being hypocritical LK, now can we ??

I'd love to know what it is you're being stopped from doing....
Anyway, if someone's said it better, always quote them:

The EDL's latest wheeze to contribute to 'our vibrant multi-cultural society' (speech at the Bolton rally of the EDL) is to hold an anti-Islamic demonstration in Bradford.
they are calling this 'The Big One'. One third of the popultion of the city is moslem. The explosive potential of this is obvious. Horrifying, i think.
Interesting that one of the most consistent opponents of the far right/BNP/EDL is arguing against a counter-demonstration:

Makes sense to me.

And to me.
As he as much as says, the EDL opposition always ends up looking (or at least being portrayed) as a bunch of Democracy Village not rights, when of course opposition to racism is a rather more mainstream position than that.
Just ignore them. I don't think we're at the 'all it takes is for good men to do nothing' stage... there are times and places where these arguments can be had and won, but during an EDL demonstration on the streets of Bradford is not one of them.

That's almost like holding a Straight parade in Manchesters Gay Village except it won't be handbags flying. Needs banning before it starts or it could be a real blood-bath.William the White wrote:The EDL's latest wheeze to contribute to 'our vibrant multi-cultural society' (speech at the Bolton rally of the EDL) is to hold an anti-Islamic demonstration in Bradford.

Different circumstances.Worthy4England wrote:Indeed, what could be better than "no one watching" - no publicity because no one cares.
That said sir, it didn't seem to make sense to you when they were in Bolton.
But, since we've been round the hills on that one twice or three times we know each other's arguments, don't agree with them, and could only hold them again and again.
Still worthy, this gives you the opportunity to hold an argument about whether the argument is worthwhile continuing, and I wouldn't want to deprive you of the pleasure...
