That's when.
My hours vary. When required I put the odd 20 hours in, in a day. When it's quiet I go and play golf.

Thank you for that snippet of information. My post was a harmless jab at Worthy being self-employed, ie the boss.thebish wrote:Since the The EU Working Time Directive - a European Union Directive, which creates the right for EU workers to a minimum number of holidays each year, paid breaks, and rest of at least 11 hours in any 24 hour period, while restricting excessive night work and, a default right to work no more than 48 hours per week. Try your best to cope for a week, from Friday. I'm off to Spain.

Surely, if the series is to follow, that should be a spotted dick without currants? Otherwise, it would be a bird without sky, a book without a shelf....
Yours in pedantry, etc etc.

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Worry not, I have every confidence that you can be both Peter Brough, and Archie Andrews at the same time.thebish wrote: this forum will be like...

The Tottenham game.
Is there anything more annoying than southerners chanting en masse?

Even then there are just enough northerners/non-native speakers to take the grating edge of ".... you're havin a larf"Gary the Enfield wrote:Southerners chanting en masse at Old Trafford?mummywhycantieatcrayons wrote:The Tottenham game.

im the same, contracted to 37.5 hours, but being on contract if they need me to do more then i will do happily beacuse ill invoice them for the extra hours @ the agreed rate. However the permanent staff here are just 'expected' to stay on if summat needs finishing. There are no monetary benefits, or time in lew unless maybe they work all weekend then take two days off in the week after their deadline. By rights they can just go home when their hours are up, tuff luck if they havemt finished - but they know despite all the employment laws, it just wouldn't look very good in the eyes of the directors, and their commitment will be considered the next time theres a bout of redundancies, or promotions!
tbh tho, i like 37.5hrs, it means i can do it in four days and take Friday off!

Pretty much the same for me. 37.5 hours but its worded that basically you will do more when necessary. However TOIL does happen here, though obviously as you say not for just the odd hour here or there.General Mannerheim wrote:im the same, contracted to 37.5 hours, but being on contract if they need me to do more then i will do happily beacuse ill invoice them for the extra hours @ the agreed rate. I wish I could take Fridays off.
I actually think though that in the not too distant future working practices will change. There will be far more working from home, more "condensing" weeks into say four days (people working the same hours spread across 4 instead of 5 days) more consideration for people who use public transport etc.
This will reduce pressure on roads and also reduce overheads for companies. It will be considered "green" as well.
