28,383 capacity. Let's see how their attendances are after a decade of negative press and mid table mediocrityGaz Tomorrow wrote:Huge fan base too, well it seems that way, they always fill the britannia! What capacity is it?H. Pedersen wrote:Stoke have comfortably avoided relegation the past two seasons and don't seem to have lost anybody valuable. No shakeups in management. Added some decent players. Why would they struggle this term?
16,823 was the average the season they won promotion, 26,953 the first Prem season and then they went up to 27,162.
I'm struggling to find accurate stats dating back to 2000/01 (our promotion season) and the two seasons after but having a dash through some of our crowd figures (without working them all out) we're looking at just shy of 16,500 and 26,000 (just over) the season after.
28,353 was our highest Premier League attendance. Suprisingly during the classic 9 man comeback against Leicester City on the 28/12/2004
28,218 is the Britannia's largest ever crowd
Feck all in it numbers wise

What is Eddie Davies' money actually in?
He doesn't have a business any more as he sold it, I think about two or three years ago for about £80m

Replying to nit-pickers is never good.
And it wasn't nit-picking. You have an opinion that Stoke will struggle. Your using playground rhetoric 101 doesn't make it any more likely. It certainly isn't a 'fact'. It's an opinion, and people presenting their opinions as facts makes me want to rant.

Ward has signed a new deal...
Bolton teenager Danny Ward has signed a new three-year contract with the club.
The 18-year-old forward has made only two substitute appearances for the club but scored seven league goals during a loan spell at Swindon last season.
And Bolton boss Owen Coyle wants to send Ward out on loan again this season to help him gain experience.
"I have tremendous belief in Danny but it's fair to say that he needs to go and get some Championship experience," Coyle told the club website.
"He was involved in our squad throughout pre-season and did ever so well but with the players that we have in front of him at the moment then it makes sense for him to go out on loan."
Coyle said "numerous" Championship clubs had expressed an interest in Ward and that he was likely to go out on loan in the next week.
Coventry are believed to be leading the chase for a player who helped Swindon reach the League One play-off final last season.
"He can now go out on an emergency loan, which covers the next three months, and I know that when he comes back then I will get a far better player," added Coyle.

interesting structuring of the deal - Coyle wants him to see action....Seamus' good leg wrote:Posted on SSN this afternoon - confirmed loan to Coventry (not sent I hope!) 'til January.
Good luck to the lad & hope he returns even stronger.
"Bolton striker Danny Ward has joined Championship side Coventry City
on loan until January, and in a unique arrangement the Sky Blues will
pay Bolton less every time Ward plays for them. Bolton boss Owen Coyle
has structured the deal to encourage Coventry to play Ward more often
and they will pay less for doing so. “The more Danny plays the more
the fee is reduced. We are not putting him out to gain financially –
we want him to come back a better player. Every time he plays the sum
comes down by a substantial amount. I think it is very fair.”"

Hmmm.. Perhaps he was inspired to do that after Arsenal did it to us??thebish wrote:interesting structuring of the deal - Coyle wants him to see action....Seamus' good leg wrote:Posted on SSN this afternoon - confirmed loan to Coventry (not sent I hope!) 'til January.

Just speculating, I don't know how the Wilshere deal was structured

Seems reasonable, OC wants him to gain experience and they pay less for letting him play. This would suggest that Boothroyd is going to give him games. Careful: they don't really understand words. They frequently refer to "trademark" in reference to odd things - "Rafa Nadal's trademark determination" - as if anyone else displaying determination could be accused of passing off...Prufrock wrote:Well, Sky reckon it's 'unique'
Anyways, clever deal - whether or not it's the only such one. Nice work to us, good luck to him, come back ready for the next step up Danny boy!

In the case of Sky, for 'Unique' read 'Different'.Prufrock wrote:Well, Sky reckon it's 'unique', and during the Wilshere discussions I suggested we might be doing that, so I'm claiming full credit. OC clearly posts, or at least lurks on here.
There's a unique atmosphere at St. James' Park.
There's a unique atmosphere at Anfield.
No there's not.. They sing when they're winning, they moan when they're not!

Regardless of who captains it, we should give Gavin McCann a new contract and play him on the wing in perpetuity. Then when young children unwise to the ways of the world ask "Daddy, why was Megson such a nobber?" there is no need for words, just a cold November evening in Leyland. We owe it to the next generation.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

If I did say that**, I clearly didn't give Megson the credit he deservedthebish wrote:CAPSLOCK wrote:Oh no, woe is me, who is gonna captain the reserves now?
Lee maybe?? you reckoned he'd languish there for many a long month and never get near the senior team....
Signed Ward, too, didn't he
