your red points in order...
1. It was you who sought to relate my comments to possible past comments - not me. If there is a new rule that whenever we talk about Davey-buttock-face we have to cross reference the subject with every preceding labour PM - then it will get very tedious.
2. No - I didn't - not even once. did you?
3. it was you who made an assessment about how much christianity you see in me - so I figured you cared - else why bother?
4. I didn't raise christianity as a subject - you did (for some - as yet unknown reason)
5. staggeringly dense it is then
6. ahh - the ironic after the event ruse

You do tedious so well though, especially when allied to your selectiveness. I've made clear where I came from on this one (twice now)
2. No - I didn't - not even once. did you?
Nope, but I don't believe you.
3. it was you who made an assessment about how much christianity you see in me - so I figured you cared - else why bother?
Because I sometimes find it questionable that you claim to be a Vicar (or whatever)
4. I didn't raise christianity as a subject - you did (for some - as yet unknown reason)
Err, you decided to bring up Jesus in relation to politicians
5. staggeringly dense it is then
Ooo, that hurts.![]()
6. ahh - the ironic after the event ruse
I really can't believe that that went over your head, but clearly it did.

close - but back then I lived in hartlepool!William the White wrote:I believe thebish didn't vote Labour while Blair was leader... He lives in a part of the country where to maximise the anti-

I amy be wrong (and, if so, expect, confidently, to be corrected)...
(and I really don't mind whether Bruce believes me or not!)

Bruce - though - is practically a Blairite as his strong polling affinity with David Miliband surely proves... Methinks he protesteth slightly too much - which is always a dead giveaway!

Blimey. You have me banged to rights there. You must've been related to Sir James Anderton. Big pile of toss. Even if it were true it's nobody else's business.Verbal wrote:Hague statement in response to Guido Fawkes' rumours regarding his sexuality...
bloody hell guido“I feel it is necessary to issue this personal statement in response to press and internet speculation over the last ten days. Earlier this year a Sunday newspaper began questioning whether my marriage to Ffion was in trouble, and last week another media outlet asked whether there was a statement about our supposed separation. This seemed to be linked to equally untrue speculation surrounding the appointment of Christopher Myers as a Special Adviser. Christopher Myers has demonstrated commitment and political talent over the last eighteen months. He is easily qualified for the job he holds. Any suggestion that his appointment was due to an improper relationship between us is utterly false, as is any suggestion that I have ever been involved in a relationship with any man.
This speculation seems to stem from the fact that whilst campaigning before the election we occasionally shared twin hotel rooms. Neither of us would have done so if we had thought that it in any way meant or implied something else. In hindsight I should have given greater consideration to what might have been made of that, but this is in itself no justification for allegations of this kind, which are untrue and deeply distressing to me, to Ffion and to Christopher.
He has now told me that, as a result of the pressure on his family from the untrue and malicious allegations made about him, he does not wish to continue in his position. It is a pity that a talented individual should feel that he needs to leave his job in this way. Ffion and I believe that everyone has a right to a private life.
However, we now feel it necessary to give some background to our marriage because we have had enough of this continued and hurtful speculation about us. I have made no secret of the fact that Ffion and I would love to start a family. For many years this has been our goal. Sadly this has proved more difficult for us than for most couples. We have encountered many difficulties and suffered multiple miscarriages, and indeed are still grieving for the loss of a pregnancy this summer. We are aware that the stress of infertility can often strain a marriage, but in our case, thankfully, it has only brought us closer together.
It has been an immensely traumatic and painful experience but our marriage is strong and we will face whatever the future brings together. Several years ago one Sunday paper reported that Ffion was three months pregnant, without ever checking the story with us. This made even more difficult the fact that we had only just experienced another disappointment. We have never made this information public because of the distress it would cause to our families and would not do so now were it not for the untrue rumours circulating which repeatedly call our marriage into question. We wish everyone to know that we are very happily married.
It is very regrettable to have to make this personal statement, but we have often said to each other ‘if only they knew the truth…’ Well, this is the straightforward truth. I will not be making any further comment on these matters.”

not really sure what I make of this whole Hague business.... I have very mixed feelings...
1. I don't really understand why he had to reveal a load of stuff about miscarriages and Ffion - especially as he tells us it was not something they wanted to do. The fact that she has had miscarriages does not prove that he isn't gay... so what on earth was the point of revealing something he says they were both very keen to keep private??
2. could you look more gay than this if you tried?

3. I thought the tories told us they were rooting out un-necesasary spending on SpAds - it seems not - it's the same as it ever was - employ your mates and get the Great British Taxpayer to pay them for doing nowt - how is this guy even close to being qualified to "advise" the Foreign Secretary?? what is the civil service for??
4. I have no interest or problem whether or where Hague chooses to stick his knobstick.... BUT... I don't think it is as simply dismissed as Pru suggests. This man is the Foreign Secretary. he is married and he is desperate to keep up the image of happy family marriage. I suspect he is happily married - and wants to keep the public believing that.
so... IF (big if) he has been having a bit of gay on the side - then it IS an issue - not least because of the potential for blackmail (maybe Pru is too young to remember the Profumo affair). I don't want the British Foreign secretary to be open to blackmail. Or if not blackmail - surely the stress and strain of keeping an affair going and keeping it secret is HUGE - and so his mind is not wholly on the job - and I want the Foreign Secretary to be focussed on the job - there are some serious issues to be faced... (again - a big IF - but responding to the idea that even if he was having an affair then it wouldn't matter - i think it would.... and it wouldn't make any difference if it were a gay or straight affair - same issue.) Were Hague single - and knobbing his SpAd - then, who cares? (unless the atmosphere in the tory party is still so anti-gay that he could be blackmailed by someone threatening to reveal that. They do seem to tolerate Alan Duncan though... utter arse-wipe that he is...)
5. I feel desperately sorry for Ffion and william over the agony of repeated miscarriages - not least over the incident where it was speculated by scum-bag journos that she was actually 3mths pregnant when in fact, she had just miscarried - bastards.
6. guido-fawkes is a grade A snot-wipe

re-discovered this last night via an old episode of HIGNFY....
now it's all clear! relax everyone - MP's have to be at work on time (unlike most commuters) - so it seems reasonable to claim for a second house for a 37 mile commute....

"Reading Mr Blair's memoirs in one go, you come away with the abiding impression that he is, among other things, quite a strange person: perhaps one of the oddest to reach high office in the history of modern British politics. Mr Blair says he wrote the book himself: it is sufficiently strange in style that I think I mostly believe him."

I have always had a guilty admiration for Blair, but have always thought him seriously odd and genuinely deluded too. Think I might pick up a copy of the book tomorrow.

the poll does not indicate labour-support - it indicates which of the candidates' policies people most relate to. if you don't understand that or appreciate the difference - then I would confidently predict you not being able to find the key for your gun-cupboard or hold the gun the right way round to shoot them with.....bedwetter2 wrote:Anyway, now we have identified all the Labour supporting losers identifying themselves in the leadership poll thread at least they are all in one place and may be rounded up and shot at leisure.

I'd laugh anyway.
And he'd have a lot of leisure to plan his next intervention into political repartee...
