Al Habsi playing for Wigan today. With 5 minutes left they are winning at Spurs and Ali has just made 3 really good saves. Although he hasn't been asked to do too much what he has done, he has done well.

He was certainly an improvement over Kirkland. Made a few really good saves, though he came out unconvincingly near the end and nearly got punished by Kaboul.

I'm so torn over this. Good for Ali to get games but in the long term it's really better for Bolton if Wigan are playing a dodgy keeper.

Ali Al-Habsi made his league debut for Wigan against Tottenham and kept a clean sheet, and made a string of fine saves, the best being when he got down low to deny Jermain Defoe from close range.

But will Bogdan be just as good a replacement for Jussi in a couple years' time? I didn't get to watch the Cup game which he started but he seems like a major step down from Jussi based on what I saw of him against Brum.

Jussi wasn't as good as Jussi for at least two seasons...

Ali Al-Habsi played 90 minutes as Wigan Athletic held Sunderland to a 1-1 draw at the DW Stadium. He didn't keep a Clean Sheet but in fairness, could do little to prevent Asamoah Gyan's excellent debut goal.

Danny Ward made his Coventry City debut just two days after linking up with the squad on Thursday. He played 67 minutes and played a major part in Coventry's only goal in the 1-1 draw with Leicester City.

Danny Ward started the game tonight but was substituted after only 31 minutes. Can't find out if this was due to injury or tactical reasons. Swansea were 1-0 up at the time.

I take back what I said about Bogdan (or is it...Bodgan?), the young Hungarian kept us in the match with some authoritative and confident keeping, until Atwell decided it was high time to take us out of it. 4 goals seems rather harsh on him and you can't complain about being spoilt for choice in a position such as GK.

The real interesting question that will arise next year: Jussi, al-Habsi or Bodgan?

As mentioned above...

Danny Ward played 31 minutes as Coventry were beaten 2-1 by Swansea City, his reason for substitution is unknown. He did however have a decent chance to score when Platt crossed for him, but he could only put it past the post with a sliding touch.

A calf problem is the reason cited for Ward being substituted early, he may be fit to play today.

Ali Al-Habsi played the full 90 minutes for Wigan but could do nothing to prevent Tevez and Yaya Toure scoring to make Manchester City 2-0 winners.

Danny Ward sat out Coventry's 2-1 win over Bristol City with a calf injury he picked up against Swansea midweek.

Danny Ward has been injured, hence the lack of updates, at the weekend he played the last 14 minutes of Coventry's 2-1 loss at the hands of Preston and last night he played 61 minutes of Coventry's 2-1 win over Doncaster, forcing a strong save from Sullivan when he turned and shot from 25 yards.

Danny Ward has temporarily returned to Bolton for a hernia operation, he will be out of action for approximately a month.

That's a shame. Mate's a Cov fan and seemed quite impressed with him so far. Any idea if he'll rejoin when fit again?
