Next time someone moans about us using long ball

Show them this article, the well respected grandfather of Modern analysis, Charles Reep suggested teams are more likely to score after a smaller sequence of passes (2 or 3 being the optimum)

Except that Reep was a numpty whose grand theories were built on embarrassing errors in elementary statistics, sure.

And more importantly, when praising the long ball game, they still snub us. Surely, if we were advocates of it, then we were its greatest proponents? If we were, then 8th, 6th, 8th 7th to me suggests there should be several of our games on that list. If we were.

Direct (long balls) is the most effective way to play against counter attacking teams if you have the right players to do so, why try and pass it through 10 players in there half if you havnt got the players to do so. Long ball is 5% effective if you play against a possesion team if you have the right players!

Reep and Hughes kept English football coaching behind the curve for generations. Still are.

finally some people have recognised that the style has changed and that BWFC are not teh worst cloggers in the League.

"You get managers who are sending their teams out to stop other teams playing, which is happening more and more – the Stokes, Blackburns, Wolves. They can say it's effective and they have got to win games but the fact is the managers are sending out their players so pumped up there is inevitably going to be problems."

I hear him talking about this on talkshite.

He needs to go and look a couple of things up. Like the worst prem disciplinary records.

2004/5 - Blackburn, Manager: Mark Hughes
2005/6 - Blackburn, Manager: Mark Hughes
2006/7 - Blackburn, Manager: Mark Hughes
2007/8 - Blackburn, Manager: Mark Hughes

So Danny, who's your manager?

This is what happens when we grind up Arsenal fans and feed them to footballers. Its just not their natural diet, they end up with MWD, and its spreading.

We'll have Selwyn Gummer on next feeding Arsenal Burgers to 'the kids' at their training ground.
