He didn't raise it for offside, Chief. He raised his flag because it'd gone about a foot over the line. Shame reallySonsOfThunder wrote:Who committed the penalty? And how can it be a penalty if the linesman has raised his flag for offside...jaffka wrote:They score but the liner raises his flag, penalty to Burnley. But now the goal is given!!!!

Well that's even more confusing. How can a penalty be committed while the ball is out of play?TKIZ! wrote:He didn't raise it for offside, Chief. Sorry Sons, I mean the ball had gone a foot over the goal line. The linesman put the flag across his chest which indicates a goal. The ref didn't see it, but had to consult with the linesman to make sure, nobody knew what was happening until the ref indicated to the centre spotSonsOfThunder wrote:Well that's even more confusing. Would be nice if someone at the match was posting with their mobile phone.
According to SkySports ScoreCentre the goal was scored in the 45th minute by Wade Elliott, with a right-footed volley from the left side of the the penalty area 12 yards out.
Ah I see what you mean now TKIZ. Thanks for clearing that up. And how many times is that now we've conceded first.

Linesman's signal for a goal is short sprint 20-30 yards towards the halfway line, unless he doesnt think the referee has seen it in which case he waves his flag and then sprints the 20-30 yards. Presumably this is what happened. Anyway. F*ck 'em. I work with a load of six fingers, and I have my response ready: "With a full strength team, at home, in what was your biggest game of the season, yet not even our biggest of the week, you beat us. Well done. We still took your manager and stayed up whilst you got relegated. F*ck off."SonsOfThunder wrote:Well that's even more confusing.
