Agree completely. He's not even one-dimensional at the moment, and we can't afford to carry him.Raven wrote:I don't rate Klasnic at all, could not understand all the fuss about getting him back, he's no better than Elmander and up front we are so weak its scary!officer_dibble wrote:Most worrying thing seems to be all this about klasnic to be honest. So you prefer the breeze-block to Turf Moor?!bwfc wrote:This performance was dire.
Coyle should have played a stronger side, why go half and half?
Burnley knew how we were going to play, they had us well sussed even before a ball was kicked in the second half and we had no plan B. The possession stats will make interesting reading. We didn't even give them a game.
Eagles took the pi55 out of everyone in the back 4 we couldn't handle the orange piece of 5hit whilst a 40 year old bossed the midfield, they really gave us the run around.
All this crap about we want to get through in the cup competitions is pure bull5hit, Coyle daren't take the risk to lose at his old club with our full side as his ego wouldn't take it and as such put us out of the cup.
I thought we would try in the cups under Coyle with his pedigree, but now we have survival/FA cup to go for and its our season over. A cup run would have been a great confidence booster for players and fans alike.
The result shows to me Coyle is very naive, in my eyes he has a lot to do to win me over, he says the right things (Over and over) but things don't translate on the pitch.
I am pi55ed off that I bothered going, waste of a tuesday night. Not just saying it but this was poor very poor, not one player showed anything like their quality and the tactics were even worse if you could tell what we were trying to do in the second half then send answers in on the back of a fag packet because that where they must have been devised.
Add to this I was sat in an 80 year old stand with wooden seats, we should get a bloody refund.
Sort it out Coyle.
Give me strength.
A choice between a proper football 'ground' and a 'stadium' on an out-of-town retail park......isn't even a choice for me.
You're the new Sir Nut - well done.

Don't agree with that mate. Elmander and Davies are looking fairly good this year, and if you class Lee and Petrov as forward wingers, we ain't looking too shabby.
Agree about Klasnic not being great, but he's okay cover, and this new Spanish lad looks okay so far.
It's the best line-up we've had in a few years, except Anelka who, let's face it, was a fluke.

A proper football ground isn't a crumbling firetrap nightmare with a supermarket one end, like Burnden eventually was. But that's for another thread.as wrote:So you prefer the breeze-block to Turf Moor?!bwfc wrote:This performance was dire.

So we're going down then?
Always a risk playing so many reserves but the alternative would be not to rest first-teamers like SKD, Muamba and Elmo who've already run marathons for us this season - not to mention Petrov, who's deteriorated to the point where many would prefer Taylor, and LCY, who's been working just as hard as last season but to less effect.
Fact is we all wanted a look at the two Spanish lads plus of course Klasnic, while the substitute performances of Blake and Mavis probably deserved a starting role. Had any of those five (plus Taylor) not been picked last night, many would have wondered if Coyle was, to use the tabloid verb, snubbing them. And what better chance than against lower-league opponents? Seems Alonso isn't yet Ashley Cole - would we rather have discovered that against Nani on Sunday?
Most worrying: Alonso being somewhat underaverage; Taylor being described as unfit by those who have no history of hating him; and perhaps most notably, Klasnic looking by most accounts awful. I have to say though I'm confused by what formation we played - was Ivan isolated up top? It didn't take a division drop to confirm that he's hardly the lone front-runner. And a question: should Holden or Muamba have come off the bench for that unused third substitution, considering both Mavis and Cohen had been booked?

DSB you didn't go to the game but already you've pretty much summed the situation up.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:So we're going down then?

The formation we played was essentially Klasnic up top with Blake in behind him and Rodrigo as essentially a second striker but out wide. Kind of a 4-4-2/4-3-3 hybrid. If that makes any sense. In essence I guess it was a 4-4-1-1 though as I say Rodrigo was not playing as a normal winger would in a 4-4-2 during the first half he was often the most advanced man. The role suited Blake first half, less so second.
I wouldn't say Klasnic was particularly isolated but he was expected to do some graft in that role and the problem seems to be he was either unwilling or unable to do that so their defenders often went unchallenged. When the ball was played into his feet, he did ok, but no more than that and even when we were on top you need more from your striker than standing there waiting for the ball to feet.
Mark Davies and Cohen both got forwards, leaving us a little "empty" in the middle at times. Davies played well, Cohen less so and overall the two are not a good midfield pairing, Burnley won the majority of second balls.
And you are right, Holden or Muamba on may well have swung it. I think their lack of involvement suggests OC was not as bothered about the game as he might have suggested. Yes he wanted to win but clearly did not want to risk the longer term for last night. Fair enough I guess.

I'm afraid criticism being described as "hatred" is a bit tabloid aswell. Fact remains, if a player has put in consistently poor performances, the reasons are essentially immaterial, you don't pick him. Else we'd be as well fielding Khalilou Fadiga and Nat. Petrov has contributed positively to several of our goals and games this season (most notably against Villa, where a current Matt Taylor would not have been up with the play to produce a first time cross of that quality).
Last night was a reasonable exercise. Cohen looked better than he has for months(and I generally think he's poor), and Blake and Mavies both showed they are good with the ball, but would be overrun without a 'minder'. And I still maintain Ricketts was sh*te last night. And I've not called him that for months, so I'd be surprised if it was called 'hatred'.

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

alonso looked shakey defensively against southampton - but (if i remember rightly) - knight backed him up tirelessly... I'd have hoped he might have taken a stride forward for his second game - but it doesn't sound like he did...
maybe that's why we kept hold of JLloyd - for all the negative mythology - he wasn't THAT bad....

We made more noise in the 94/95 season than we have in 13 years at the Reebok.
Sh*thole with a supermarket on the end - yes
Did I prefer it - yes
Then again, that might be down to location, as we've got a ground miles away with utter sh*te transport links (even the DMB's have a tram every 6 minutes from Manchester).

Surely in this instance we'd have Alonso learning from Robbo and Samuel simultaneously?thebish wrote:alonso looked shakey defensively against southampton - but (if i remember rightly) - knight backed him up tirelessly... Sh*te transport links? The 575 is a hop, skip and a jump into the town centre if you lived anywhere near Burnden, and they come every 5/10 minutes. But yes, given our consistent fanbase, maybe we would have been better updating, modernising and seating Burnden - at least it'd be full!!as wrote:Another thread?
