Oh FFS how you can claim the Reebok has "shite transport links" is beyond me.as wrote:Another thread? Coyle should have played a stronger side, why go half and half?
Burnley knew how we were going to play, they had us well sussed even before a ball was kicked in the second half and we had no plan B. The possession stats will make interesting reading. We didn't even give them a game.
Eagles took the pi55 out of everyone in the back 4 we couldn't handle the orange piece of 5hit whilst a 40 year old bossed the midfield, they really gave us the run around.
All this crap about we want to get through in the cup competitions is pure bull5hit, Coyle daren't take the risk to lose at his old club with our full side as his ego wouldn't take it and as such put us out of the cup.
I thought we would try in the cups under Coyle with his pedigree, but now we have survival/FA cup to go for and its our season over. A cup run would have been a great confidence booster for players and fans alike.
The result shows to me Coyle is very naive, in my eyes he has a lot to do to win me over, he says the right things (Over and over) but things don't translate on the pitch.
I am pi55ed off that I bothered going, waste of a tuesday night. Not just saying it but this was poor very poor, not one player showed anything like their quality and the tactics were even worse if you could tell what we were trying to do in the second half then send answers in on the back of a fag packet because that where they must have been devised.
Add to this I was sat in an 80 year old stand with wooden seats, we should get a bloody refund.
Sort it out Coyle.
Give me strength.
A choice between a proper football 'ground' and a 'stadium' on an out-of-town retail park......isn't even a choice for me.
You're the new Sir Nut - well done.![]()
We made more noise in the 94/95 season than we have in 13 years at the Reebok.
Sh*thole with a supermarket on the end - yes
Did I prefer it - yes
Then again, that might be down to location, as we've got a ground miles away with utter sh*te transport links (even the DMB's have a tram every 6 minutes from Manchester).
You can get there by...
Train.
Car straight off the motorway
Matchday bus from all over Bolton.
I don't live anywhere near it but never have a problem getting there and have used all 3 of the above transport methods.
It is one of the better grounds for getting too and from.

As a football stadium, Burnden was a great place that grew old and never got maintained or updated. Its location wouldn't work now anyway because of access. Matchdays used to stop all the traffic on Manchester Road, that couldn't happen now. There's a lot of room around Moses Gate that would have been ideal for rebuilding it and it would have felt more like Bolton's home ground as well as being convenient for motorway use. In its hey day Burnden was fantastic.as wrote: Sh*thole with a supermarket on the end - yes

There's a reason for that too, but that again is even another thread.TANGODANCER wrote:There's a lot of room around Moses Gate
And the theiving bastards would have been away with all the building materials. It'd have come in three times over budget and would've taken at least nine years to build.

Bodgan - did well when needed to
Steinnson - did ok Eagles & Fox doubled up but didn't have much look
Knight - Did well
Ricketts - did ok, for some reason he was making Chris Iwelumo who had a good game.
Alonso - didn't do to bad, really struggled when Mears & Elliot doubled up but that was because of a lack of support from Taylor
Moreno - Did well, pace, skillful.
Cohen - Shit
M Davies - did ok, didn't really get into the game
Taylor - Shit
Blake - did really well, tired near the end
Klansic - wasn't 100% should of come off at half term.
Atmosphere from the Bolton end was brilliant, shame it's not like that for every game

Some of that is true. However, to say Klasnic "wasn't 100%" yet describe others as "shit" seems a bit unfair.potter1989bwfc wrote:Bodgan - did well when needed to

Lets just say Klasnic was the worst on the field and leave it at that.
Also Alonso was bobbins and anyone pretending otherwise is kidding themselves. He's young and perhaps can be excused as he's still adapting and learning. But he was bobbins nontheless.

On reflection, perhaps "hating him" was too hastily selected a verb. I retract and replace with "banging on about him, consistently in the negative, thereby somewhat undermining the shock value of any future negative report".Lord Kangana wrote:I'm afraid criticism being described as "hatred" is a bit tabloid aswell. Fact remains, if a player has put in consistently poor performances, the reasons are essentially immaterial, you don't pick him. Else we'd be as well fielding Khalilou Fadiga and Nat. Petrov has contributed positively to several of our goals and games this season (most notably against Villa, where a current Matt Taylor would not have been up with the play to produce a first time cross of that quality).
Last night was a reasonable exercise. Cohen looked better than he has for months(and I generally think he's poor), and Blake and Mavies both showed they are good with the ball, but would be overrun without a 'minder'. And I still maintain Ricketts was sh*te last night. And I've not called him that for months, so I'd be surprised if it was called 'hatred'.
Thing is, whoever's closer to being right on any point, the person who makes an assessment contrary to their previous perceived "stance" is bigger news than the person whose report backs up their previous statements. So, for LK to say that Taylor struggled last night is simply not as notable as BWFCi saying the same. It doesn't mean I love BWFCi any more than before, or more than you.

Have you left a football ground recently, Tango? One situated not on an out-of-town development?TANGODANCER wrote:I means it wouldn't be allowed. the B167 outside the Boleyn Stadium is chaotic every 2 weeks in the football season - the games still happen though...

It's been a while. But don't mistake my meaning. I'm saying they wouldn't build a new stadium in Burnden's old location and that would be one of the reasons why not. That's why I said it couldn't happen today. Do you disagree?Bruce Rioja wrote:Have you left a football ground recently, Tango? Petrov has been generally disappointing so far. Aye he's been involved in a goal that Taylor may or may not have been anywhere near. But still disappointing so far.Lord Kangana wrote:I'm afraid criticism being described as "hatred" is a bit tabloid aswell. maybe that's why we kept hold of JLloyd - for all the negative mythology - he wasn't THAT bad....

Pfffft.
Not too bothered. From the sounds of it we've played worse in Carling Cup games.
Klasnic's performance sounds the most notable thing. I'm not sure whether people now preferring Elmander shows just how well Elmo has started the season, or how largely useless and unfit Klasnic has been (albeit he was responsible for us even being at Turf Moor yesterday). Quite a turnaround from last season in any case.
"Taking the cups seriously", could now I suppose go down alongside "bringing back the missing thousands" and "bloodying the noses of the big teams", as things that people were expecting when Coyle took over that have yet to really manifest themselves. Here's hoping two of those start on Sunday.

Aye I suspect we'll be taking the other cup seriously and have a few thousand more than normal on.Tombwfc wrote:Not too bothered. From the sounds of it we've played worse in Carling Cup games.

In fairness, and I've referred to it elsewhere - it was Mr Coyle who was at his tub-thumping best at the fans forum at the start of the season saying he fancied a cup run. I wasn't there myself, but I'm pretty sure folk who were said this was the case. And on yesterday's showing we've been thrown one. It wasn't the starting XI of a team who wanted to progress, and substitutions made weren't those of someone whose priority was winning last night.
For what it's worth, my opinion is that progress through the cup was more important than getting Tamir Cohen and co a game under their belt

Whilst I agree with some of your post HRG and I don't want to appear like some argumentative kind of fan we've won the Carlsberg Cup so really Owen didn't lie. Went went all out in that onehisroyalgingerness wrote:In fairness, and I've referred to it elsewhere - it was Mr Coyle who was at his tub-thumping best at the fans forum at the start of the season saying he fancied a cup run.
