Has this lad dropped off the face of the earth? Can't recall him playing for Blackpool since we sold him...

He's made the bench once or twice.. But from what I hear, he's nowhere near the first team. Struggling to get out of the reserves.

He's not very good at being a footballer

That can't be true. He was a young player in our reserves. Which means he's world class and better than Essien, Lampard and Scholes combined were he given a first team start by our obvioudly clueless procession of managers.

Had expected him to get quite a bit of playing time.

It wouldn't surprise me if he had playing time attached to his contract. He played in his first game directly after we sold him and since then he's not managed to retain the spot. Can't really blame him though what with Blackpool playing as well as they have been doing.

Just to clarify, you're saying that it was ok for people to boo Nicky Hunt and Nolan, or that it was right that we sold them? I'm a little lost by the thrust of your post...

Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Me too, although to clarify I boo'd neither Hunt or Nolan. Booing our own players is a ridiculous idea. Would you do your job better if someone boo'd every mistake you made at work?
Pfffft.

I only saw him play a couple of times on TV - but he didn't look that bad to me. I think he was in the Celsea game where we nearly came back from 0-4 down.

Well he's not as good as Tamir Cohen... I'll let you decide whether or not he's any good

Yes, but isn't Tamir four or five years older?

Yes.. But Basham won't get much better than his current level of ability, hence him leaving for less than half a million.

Maccabi Netanya sold Tamir for about 37k when he was older than Basham is now.

He's a decent young player, and I think given Muamba's patchy form he'd have been an asset to us. I understand the reasons why we sold though.

I think its gone over your head.

Think the "Andranik factor" or any young player who bangs a few in for the reserves. Suddenly becomes "someone who should be playing" if only "current manager" had any clue about football despite said people never having seen the player play.

Then it turns out they're actually pretty shite. Obadeyi being the most recent example of this. Danny Ward may well be the next.

Don't recall anyone saying anything other than Obadeyi was a bit average. I sometimes wonder which people you talk to, as "all these people" that you keep talking to always seem to be far more vitriolic about the club than anyone I speak to. I mean, if I were a cynic, I might be tempted to suggest it was a bit of an exaggeration. If I were a cynic, naturally.

While never spectacular Basham always looked solid when I saw him and never overawed. Don't ever expect him to be great but did expect further improvement.

Don't think Basham ever let us down... I thought he'd been injured though?

He is their record signing strangely enough.
