Parade of Legends

Post by TKIZ! » Fri Oct 08, 2010 11:49 am

Thinking about it today something that Arsenal have done very well is the outside of the Emirates, the Parade of Legends. My question is would this work at Bolton and what 'Legends' would you have on the outside of the 'Bok'?

I think it would inspire a little more than the 'Spirit of Sport' or whatever that weird sculpture thing is on the roundabout?

Roy Hartle? Gudni? Frank Worthington? who?
Pfffft.

Personally I'd include Roy Greaves, Jussi, Davo, Eddie Hopkinson, John McGinlay, Frank Worthington, Nat, Gudni & Roy Hartle. From there, I'm not sure.

That wall looks fantastic at the Emirates, and im sure it could easily be emulated at the reebok!

Haven't they kind of copied it from Sevilla, and their wall with all the Europeans badges on? TBH never seen it.

Laville? He was fantastic when he was here, but if he made more than 20 appearances, I'd be surprised

Yep, and I suspect Jaidi had scored the previous weekend hence his inclusion !!!

Has anyone suggested Allardyce or Rioch?

Scratch that. Allardyce is there, but no Rioch?

Seems that it's players rather than managers (though a few of them have tried their hand at both).

That list is bollocks.

As is any attempt to have a "hero's wall" or "legends parade" or anything similar.

I'm all for remembering the history but stuff like this is wanky pretentious, ott, sycophantic, bollocks that clubs like Arsneal and Liverpool do.

Oh! Actually IMHO it is not necessarily a bad idea and can be done tastefully. BWFC has a great tradition and such a display could help contemporary and younger fans know about it. However, the selection standard would have to be somewhat stricter than that applied to the fifty mentioned above.

Say what you think BWFCi, as it was just a thought. The awful off white/brown brick work was a bit too depressing to think about so that original thought popped into my head
Pfffft.

We do have the 'Spirit of Sport' memorial already on the roundabout don't we?

One major problem with the wall would be an agreement from BWFC, they won't even consider a statue of the greatest of them all, Nat lofthouse, so a wall with tributes to 10, 20, 50 others would I fear be a none starter.
