Yesterday I realised that my days of being a proper student were over. Things have got suddenly serious. I'm not angry, just a little sad inside.

The thing is it isn't! The big bad world where I get some money is 2 years away still. Just now I'm expected to know stuff and we have about 1 week on each speciality to get up to speed before finals. As I said, despite still being at 'uni' I'm basically working whilst trying to absorb as much of it as possible.

It's all Mr Big Bad World - not just money oriented.

Of course you're expected to know stuff - it's why you stay in learning :-) The day is not far off when people will take you opinion as "fact" - it's a sobering thought - probably moreso in your line of business. :-)

That is true. It's just that over the summer something seems to have changed in that respect! Without realising it the typical student life seems to have slipped away!

Oooops, JMcG. Another rejection letter on the doormat ?

Much as I'd like to write to rejected candidates sometimes saying "why the fck did you bother to waste my and your own time applying ? Think of the trees." Or "when I put 'minimum requirements are xxxxxx, at what point did it seem appropriate to then apply despite having not one of these ?" Or even "just fck of you pointless waste of oxygen" I typically write back in a respectful and ultimetely false manner. Then again recruitment is only a small part of my job.

So you're just a bit of a wanker then? :)

In every flock, thebish, there will be found the odd black sheep, just as in a litter will be found the odd runt. I'm quite sure that the seminary instilled such knowledge into the sponge known as your brain.

Go back to your roots, think over the advice and then flame 'em.

Given thebish's current employment status I would think his liberty would soon dissipate too.

I once tried the direct approach...

poster: It is national son's week. If you have a son that you love with all your heart, copy and paste this

me: bleurghhhhhh!

poster: phil, dont understand ur post

me: I have two boys - 18 and 16 - if they read the sentiment you wrote - that is the noise they would make - and me too!

poster: that's a bit harsh

me: Possibly, but if I have stuff to say about my boys - I will say it - (and I would say it to them - not to my FB "friends") - cutting and pasting a mass-reproduced sentiment off facebook is as much an insult to them that I couldn't be arsed to say summat that means something real. What is the mass-reproduction of this sentiment actually for?

poster: good point, but lets be honest does anyone take FB that seriously

me: so you weren't being serious? you don't REALLY love your son with all your heart?

I have also seen - "if you care about people with breast cancer, copy and paste this..."

the subtle corollary seems to be - if you don't cut and paste this then you must somehow not love your sons... or not care about people with cancer...

with the cancer one - if I care about people with cancer - I won't cut and paste stuff in my fb status - I'll go out and raise some money or spend some time with someone who has cancer...

people DO take fb seriously, I think - and maybe not you - but countless people seem to think that putting stuff in their fb status or joining a fb group is actually as much as you need to do...

anyway - sorry about the rant!

while I am here - there's no easy way of asking this - but you have asked me to friend you a couple of times - how is it that I know you - or you know me?

also - what on earth is "national sons week"?? which nation? and when?

Poster: you are funny, got to go now off out, speak again. PS is it a secret what u do ahahahahaha

me: yes. if i told you - I'd have to kill you.

(He has stopped with the sentiments - but I still don't really know who he is - tho, I have narrowed it down and I do know he does football coaching in Romford and is helped with grant aid and advice by an organisation of which I am a board member...)

or - maybe I should just chill and ignore them.... (bit that would be no fun, and I have a reputation as a grumpy old man to keep up!)

Well you've got your one day's work for a start. How are you going to shoehorn Kevin Davies into a sermon. Prodigal Son?

Talk about how non-believers aren't receptive to any reasoning as to why he is the Saviour. But you can always trust the pair of them to be on the end of a cross.
