Bastard little sh*ts, and bastard coward referees.
Football team I coach playing today. I'm running the line. Ball goes down the right wing, our keeper comes out and clears it onto the next, empty pitch. I being a nice helpful citizen toddle off to get the ball, as there is no opposition player within about twenty yards. As I get back to the side of the pitch their player runs up, and since our keeper wasn't back yet, I kept hold of the ball until he was. I give it him back and walk back into position and the little scrote threw it at the back of my head, then took the throw in. I call the ref over, told him and he said, "well you didn't give him the ball back". Even if I hadn't gone to get it for the little shit, did I miss the memo where a 16 year old lad is allowed to throw the ball at a linesman. Stupid c*nts.
5 mins earlier he'd sent off one of our lads for handling on the goal line so he clearly wasn't averse to the red card. I had to go very far away at the final whistle or I would have got in a lot of trouble.

You also need a word with your keeper. It seems to have taken him forever to get back in his nets. I mean you've had chance to toddle off and rescue the ball, their player has managed to leg it at least 20 yards. Did he get lost?Prufrock wrote:Bastard little sh*ts, and bastard coward referees.

You are a prime example of why talented English footballers are thin on the ground! Blame the ref, blame the pitch and everyone except your precious team and your piss poor attitude to the game.
So by the time you collected the ball I take it your team goalkeeper had been picking his nose?!!!!
A good coach of 16's and under would have thrown the ball back as quickly as possible and then admonished his team for remonstrating with the officals whilst the opposition scored.

Sorry guys but if that his attitude to a simple throw in, then the mind boggles. Sounds typical of the sideline “get stuck in" " get it forward" comments I hear at most junior parks games I come across.Verbal wrote:Blimey.

Bet it was played at full adult pitch size too!!!

Well, it seems to me that despite provocation, if such it was, no player should throw a ball or anything else at an official . Respect is important.Big_Girl_Oral_Explosion wrote:Sorry guys but if that his attitude to a simple throw in, then the mind boggles. Having had plenty of coaching conversations with Prufrock over the past couple of years. the last thing I could think of him as is a "win a youth game at all costs" type of coach. Sure, questions need to be asked as to the concentration of his players and what not, and it's something for this week's training session - set up in a set-piece, how to deal with a quickly taken free kick, defensive positioning (Pru - if you need a session, PM me. I've got a brilliant SSG you can do).Big_Girl_Oral_Explosion wrote:You are a prime example of why talented English footballers are thin on the ground! But he does have a point about discipline. How will this little shit learn about the finer points of the game if it's just been proven to him that it's acceptable to throw the ball at a linesman's head?
Pru's first mistake was getting the ball in the first place. He's running the line - he shouldn't be leaving the touchline, as something may have happened off the ball the ref might miss. Impartial assistant refs wouldn't do it, neither should partial ones. Neither should he had kept hold of the ball until his team was ready. Everything that happened afterwards was a sorry escalation of his first action.
Well quite. Some d*ckhead needs to learn to read. I admit sometimes I can have opinions folk disagree with, but I draw the line at being held responsible for England's failure at major tournaments. Perhaps that's unreasonable.CAPSLOCK wrote:I often find Pru over precious, but I though the main gist of the post was that some little shit chucked the ball at himBig_Girl_Oral_Explosion wrote:Sorry guys but if that his attitude to a simple throw in, then the mind boggles. There's reading between the lines and then there's making sh*t up. We got beat 14-2. I'm fairly sure that wasn't the ref's fault. Almost as equally sure as I am I didn't suggest it was. What I suggested was the ref's fault was that some scrotey little tw*t threw the ball at my head in a paddy and he, whilst I'm doing him a favour, justified it because I didn't give the ball that I'd retrieved to them until our keeper was back. If I hadn't gone to get it, they wouldn't have been in a position to catch us out but that is far, far away from the point. A sixteen year old lad (playing on an adult pitch since he's playing under 18s) throws the ball at me whilst I'm giving up my time. Imagine if I'd chinned the little fecker as I well felt like doing. My defence 'he threw the ball at my head'. I'd love to see how that played.

Indeed. Fair point, about getting the ball, and I damn straight won't be doing it again. I'm guilty of trying to save them a run and make sure they get to play as much of the ninety mins as poss. I'd done it all game. If I hadn't got the ball it would have taken them another twenty secs to get it and our keeper would have been back. I'm a qualified coach, not ref, and I absolutely hate running the line, because I don't get to see the game and for my privilege I get d*ckheads twenty yards back questioning every call. But I do it, because it's needed to help the refs out. This one, watched a 16 year old lad(he could have been up to 18, I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt) throw a ball in a strop against a match official. He then, when I called him on it, said it was OK. I was >< that close to telling him to stick his flag up his arse. If there had been longer than 5 mins left, and if there wasn't the question of the club being fined I would have.KeeeeeeeBaaaaaaab wrote:Having had plenty of coaching conversations with Prufrock over the past couple of years. the last thing I could think of him as is a "win a youth game at all costs" type of coach. Does it?

The keeper played well in fairness. We're a new team, with players playing out of position and who don't know each other. He isn't a keeper he played there because our regular keeper is ill. We were soundly beaten by a far better team. This is by no means a gripe about the result. It wasn't just a case of the keeper. If I'd left the ball completely, our entire team had time to get back get shape, but you know, trying to help out when they've just played for 80 odd minutes, I went to save them a run. I'm perfectly willing to accept I probably should have let the little c*nt get it himself, but not being a qualified ref I was trying to help out and then he goes and throws the ball at me and gets away with it. The think that really really annoys me is I'm doing that ref a favour. He saw the little sh*t do it and said it's ok because I kept hold of the ball. I probably shouldn't have got the ball, but I'm trying to help, he saw it happen and didn't do anything. Even worse he had just, rightly, sent off one of ours for handball on the line. Our lad is going to get a £25 quid fine for a daft thing to do, their kid chucks a ball at someone giving up their time, and got backed up. I could have smacked the pair of them.Bruce Rioja wrote:Hmmm. Conceded 14 and can't get back into position without a little skull-duggery going on? Pru, this 'keeper of yours.........?

Well, speaking with a bit of experience as I refereed an adults game on Saturday and an Under-15's game yesterday both with club assistants I have two comments to make on your contribution, BGOE.Big_Girl_Oral_Explosion wrote:Sorry guys but if that his attitude to a simple throw in, then the mind boggles. 1. What size pitch do you think Under 16's play on - anywhere in Europe?
2. Had I been refereeing this game and had I seen the incident (I wouldn't take a club assistant's word for it) I would have given said little scrote a straight red.
Calling someone a tit after assuming that this game should be played on a smaller pitch leaves you open to ridicule, old chap.
