Bolton vs Liverpool (buying online)

Post by bucketo » Mon Oct 11, 2010 4:04 pm

Hi folks.

I have a quick question about buying tickets for the Liverpool home game I was hoping someone could give some insight.

Myself and 3 friends are going to be in the Manchester area on the Sunday of the Liverpool home game. We're from Canada and are over for a short vacation. We were thinking it would be fun to take in the Bolton home game on Sunday (We fly back home Monday morn).

I've been watching the ticket page and the Liverpool game is listed but it has a "CT" icon beside it. Digging around the site a bit it seems tickets are onsale only for people who have been to 2+ home games this year.

My question to you guys is: will these tickets eventually go on sale to the general public, people like us?

Oh, guess I have another quick one: If they don't go onsale to the public is there any way for us to get tickets? Perhaps a season ticket resell site for fans who can't make the game and want to sell their tix?

thanks for the info.

Ordinarily, it wouldn't be a problem to wait, you'll get a ticket no sweat. They will go on general sale well before the game so you'll be fine.

That's assuming Liverpool FC still exists by then ;)

Are you thinking a couple days before the game? We'll be in the Manchester area from thursday until monday of the match weekend. I'll make sure to bring the ticket office number and call them to check.

Yes, possibly even longer, just keep checking.

The game's on tv so it won't be a sell-out.

thanks for your help!!! I'll keep you posted on how it all plays out. We watch a fair amount of Premiership games over here, would be something else to be able to see one live (and cheer against Liverpool of course!!!)

I'd guess police restrictions could mean this doesn't go to open sale

Interesting you mentioned that. I was taking a look at the online ticket site again today and both the Tottenham and Newcastle games on Nov 6 and Nov 20 are already to general sale but the Liverpool one is still locked to "CT" where you have to have been to 2 home games this year.

I also called the box office today and they echoed the same thing. The girl pretty much said they won't go general sale but she might have to say that at this point.

Has a game ever gone to match day without a general sale? You'll have to forgive me on not knowing how ticket sales work for match games. It works a bit different on this side of the pond for NHL games etc.

thanks

It normally works that they go on sale to season ticket holders, then over 65's then general sale, but for "local derbys" the general sale is changed to "you can buy tickets if you've bought tickets for another home match and did not have to be ejected".

Anyone know if he can buy at the gate?

I thought the rule was simply having a buying history, no?

Indeed, though I drive through Kanata every so often driving back from Victoria. Always glad to reach Arnprior and a decent highway. I'm afraid those senators did not do so well against the Leafs((but then nor did we)

It's basically designed to stop away fans getting tickets in the home end, therefore you need proof that you support BWFC (ie; a buying history, or match tickets from this season) in order to obtain a match ticket

I would suggest an e-mail to Tony Kelly may resolve this. It could be good PR for the club too.

Try this: [email protected]

or the big man himself: [email protected]

State your case. I'm sure one of them will respond.

Good luck.
