What are you watching tonight?

Finally saw 'Fish Tank' tonight while she watched the wank factor.

it won the 2010 BAFTA for Best British Film, and the Jury in Cannes but i seldom hear it talked about? but it should be, its superb.

dark, gritty, bleak are the clichés attached, and worthy of them but it just has summat extra i cant put my finger on yet, the acting maybe? the girl protagonist is great but im becoming a massive fan of Michael Fassbender at the moment, he is brilliant. There was one scene towards the end where i felt a nauseous with what i thought was about to happen, but thankfully it didnt! (not a spoiler) i think some films just trowel on the despair for the sake of it, but it all seems relevant in this, and a happy ending is nice in this kind of film too.

if you liked Nil By Mouth, Ratcatcher, This is England etc, this will be a treat fro you! Quality soundtrack also.

as a side note - it got me thinking, why is it all film with 'Fish' in the title are belters?

Fish Tank
Big Fish
Shooting Fish
Fish called Wander
Rumble fish....

Watched The Beat that my Heart Skipped.

A seriously good movie (French - subtitled).

Complicated multi-story plot that I can't disentangle in a couple of lines - but involves bereavement, father-son relations, gangsterism and violence, friendship and infidelity - and classical piano music.

All handled extremely well and almost believably. Kept me gripped, anyway. and reommend.

absolutely along the same lines as Williams, i watched 'Piranha'

best... film ... ever! (American - lots of naked ladies and prehistoric flesh eating fishes)

loved it

technically it could go on my fishy films list!

Speaking of which there's that Whitechapel thingy on tonight with the posh chap and the fat lad out of League of Gentlemen, with the murders copying the Krays. Might give it a watch, quite liked the last one.

But then you can offset that with the very disappointing "Jurassic Carp".

Didn't watch Whitechapel. But did watch Horizon about before the Big Bang and what nothing is and all this mad sh*t. My head still hurts.

I watched that and I thought they (well some of them) concluded that nothing was indeed something and therefore there was no such thing as nothing?

I have to admit I was doing a Homer in the Bank Managers Office at some of it.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Aye. Very confusing. I sometimes wonder if they're making all this sh*t up and just pretend by writing loads of equations on the blackboard that no one understands.
