1. What size pitch do you think Under 16's play on - anywhere in Europe?
2. Had I been refereeing this game and had I seen the incident (I wouldn't take a club assistant's word for it) I would have given said little scrote a straight red.
Calling someone a tit after assuming that this game should be played on a smaller pitch leaves you open to ridicule, old chap.
I take back my earlier angst aimed at your better known and more familiar poster whom you step into the breach to defend.
But inbetween the lines can we be honest and truly hold our heads up and dissect our woeful record on the stage where true plaudits are earned and the stage we fail; most dismally?
I would add that I truly believe that all under 17 games should be played on half sized pitches, all going to ground tackles band in that age group and two touch employed.
In that way we may instil some skill into this national game of ours

There's reading between the lines and then there's making sh*t up. We got beat 14-2. I'm fairly sure that wasn't the ref's fault. Almost as equally sure as I am I didn't suggest it was. What I suggested was the ref's fault was that some scrotey little tw*t threw the ball at my head in a paddy and he, whilst I'm doing him a favour, justified it because I didn't give the ball that I'd retrieved to them until our keeper was back. If I hadn't gone to get it, they wouldn't have been in a position to catch us out but that is far, far away from the point. A sixteen year old lad (playing on an adult pitch since he's playing under 18s) throws the ball at me whilst I'm giving up my time. Imagine if I'd chinned the little fecker as I well felt like doing. My defence 'he threw the ball at my head'. I'd love to see how that played.
This dickhead has had over 46 years being able to read and in that time in managing men and boys can read that between certain written lines that scream to be interpreted when read.
I apologise for upsetting you and calling you a TIT. This was uncalled for as I don’t even know you.
However if I had witnessed this as it happened I would have really said this to your face. As a centre forward bruiser of the Salford and Bolton Sunday leagues 1978 to 1981 I know the score.
I just cannot accept your accepted abuse of officials at junior level by so called coaches. FFS in your team talk quote Brian Cloughs “it only takes a second to score WTF doing were you doing the other 90 + mins?”
As a coach you should be encouraging good technique regardless of their want to win.

So you're still happy glossing over the fact that a player threw the ball at his head while he was running the line?Big_Girl_Oral_Explosion wrote:Hi PruPrufrock wrote: Well quite. So you want a game that has no realism within the game at a time when players are now becoming adults, where they have no idea what a tackle is, and where dribbling is banned? Under 12, I'd be happy with your parameters (although the two touch stuff is poncey in the extreme). At Under 15, I'd take it up to 3/4 sized pitches. But show me the facilities that clubs under Charter Standard (which completely dissuades any team not professional, semi-professional or well-funded by someone who doesn't expect any return) are able to provide that, and I'd be happy to proceed. Anything older, and you're really giving young players absolutely no introduction to the full game.Big_Girl_Oral_Explosion wrote:Dear Zulu

I can't work out what the highlighted above actually means. Or how this post refers to Pru's actual complaint about misbehaviour by a young player and failure to act by the referee. Or what the relevance of the Brian Clough quotation is.Big_Girl_Oral_Explosion wrote:Hi PruPrufrock wrote: Well quite. Some d*ckhead needs to learn to read. I was the assistant referee. A player threw the ball at my head. The referee, having seen it decided to accept this. Worse, in earshot of my own players he justified this lad's throwing a ball at a linesman.
In my view, there is a very short list of things a referee, assistant referee, or indeed coach/manager can do to justify a player throwing a ball at them. A decision they don't like is not even close to the shortlist for consideration to maybe being one of them.
To address your wider concern about me personally ruining the English game; I did a coaching session tonight, for the other team I coach, the under 10s; as ever, in their mini game at the end, I deliberately game several wrong decisions, to get them used to accepting decisions they can't change, and gettin gon with the game. The team I was coaching last sunday are an under 18s team, the next level after which is open age. Your suggestions for two touch and no going to ground as rules are poncey Arsenal arse gravy. As something to work towards in terms of quick movement of possesion and changes of play, and clever defending that forces opponents where you want them, they make sense as coaching drives. The concept that 16/17/18 year old lads, whose next step is open age don't play on full size pitches is mental.
As for the younger ages, my club's under 11s, 12s, 13s and 14s ages, I'd agree should be playing smaller sided games, on smaller pitches. They actually play on full size pitches, at 11 a-side. Wanna guess why? Because the money isn't there for other options. I of course take personal responsibility for this as well.

let me enlighten you, William. We are defending Pru being upset that a youth threw a ball at Pru's head while he was Acting As An Offical and the Other Official In Charge doing nothing about it. BGOE is upset that Pru ran to get the ball so the kids could get the full amount of time available for playing, but then held on to it so his less than speedy back-up goalkeeper could get back and have some small chance of keeping the score below 15. Does that make things clearer? If not speak to Clough (though you may need thebish's help there). Actually I have no idea what anyone is on about in this discussionWilliam the White wrote:I can't work out what the highlighted above actually means. "I must warn you, this report contains flash photography.'
How many times do we hear this on the news? Is it really that big a problem that we have to be warned that there's a few flash pops on the screen? I've never heard tell of anyone effected by it in any way whatsoever. Do we really have to have every news report polluted by it?
