Hicks and Gillette lose their case, but..............

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

Hicks and Gillette lose their case, but..............

Post by Gary the Enfield » Wed Oct 13, 2010 1:21 pm

Keith Culvin of Spirit of Shankly, a supporters club, said the ruling was a “hollow victory” accusing the previous Liverpool regime of jeopardising the club by selling to the US owners in 2007.

I'll give it 12 months 'til he says the exact same thing.

Well, at least this time they'll only have themselves to blame !

Ah, forgetting, they're Scousers. They'll blame Anne of Cleves before accepting any responsibility themselves.

... & I don't think this is over yet. The 3 board members who have hijacked the club (still struggling to see jow that is legal btw) have clearly not fulfilled their statutory duty to attain the best deal and could yet be sued by the share-holders. Plus, time will tell, but yoiu must wonder why they are so keen to sell to their favoured people. It would be inappropriate to suggest that they have lined their own pockets in any way ..... so I won't suggest that.

Actually a slow lingering slide may be funnier than a catastrophic meltdown & pheonix-like rise.

"Anne of Cleves Out !!"
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Injunction in a Texas high court, you say?

Is Phil Redmond in on this or something?

Does this mean we don't get to see Liverpool on negative points? :(

it did look that way - but the Texan injunction raises the possibility again as it takes up time before the sale can go through - and the RBS deadline is supposed to be tomorrow... (chances are the RBS will give Liverpool more time if there is a realistic possibility of a sale, though)

I find the whole thing incredibly boring. I know lots of Liverpool fans, and am tired of hearing how the Americans have destroyed their team, how the Americans are greedy and want to make a profit etc etc. I work with a friend from Boston so now they are coming in asking about the Red Sox owner. I have a bet with one that Liverpool will not be deducted points. Some are even worried about relegation (o.k that bit I find ludicrous yet funny).

They were all excited to hear from my friend that the Red Sox owner is not shy to invest and spend money, but then deflated when he said that he will not squander money though and that the investments must be financially viable. There is a big bubble that is going to burst in football, that is what is going to hurt clubs like Liverpool, not American owners.

Loving every convoluted minute of this shitstorm. Of course I live in a country where the big sport story is our CWG medal tally forcing the US Federal Reserve's hand and it's not wall-to-wall moaning scousers...

I'm a bit fed up of the BBC treating every Liverpool story as if it is an issue of national emergency....

I am also fed up of scousers garbling on about how some nasty bad greedy americans have stolen their club when it belongs to the fans.

errr.. no it doesn't - you sold it to some americans - and it seems you are about to do the same again.

I like the "bad news" bits though! I can't get enough of those! Bring me more!! 8)

As a representative of the MFF generation (interest in football dating to sometime in late 2005) I have to say amongst my cohort there's this fairly thick (in both senses) impression of Liverpool as plucky Rebel Alliance sticking it to Darth Fergie and his minions. The 80s didn't exist in footballing terms so all they've known is United/Chelsea dominance to which Liverpool and their "glorious history" (of which they know nowt but they know exists) are some kind of rogue counterpoint. It's classic MFF - all about fake authenticity and faux rebellion. Being a Bolton fan is a genuine kick up the arse to some of my mates who can't get around the idea that their teams (predominately Pool with a smattering of Arse) aren't underdogs or beacons but just as fecking bad as "corporate" ManU and Chelsea.

This is all so bloody tedious. Just dissolve the club and then we can all get on with it. Wankers.

and now for the latest installment.....According the Liverpool Echo Mill Financial (a hedge fund who are 40% part-owners of the Washinghton Redskins and have some NASCAR interests too) now own the shares of both Gillett and Hicks so as long as they pay the RBS on Friday the £200m (plus extras) they opwe them then they own the club! Thank god we have an owner who may not be able to compete in the Billionaire stakes but at least he has us on a much sounder financial footing...

Can I just say that I'm extremely smug that "Modern Football Fan" is up there in TW parlance with "know-nowt knobbers"?

I've just read on a BBC Twitter feed that the Dallas court supplying injunctions to Hicks & Gillette has adjourned, and that there cannot be any deal until later on tomorrow by the eraliest, meaning that there is still time for THE PUBLICLY OWNED RBS to put private company Liverpool into administration, as they promised.

They've been sold. Hopefully that's the stimulus to make them all shut up and stop bleating for a couple of weeks now.
