She likes to watch football, so to knock some sense into her I take her to see the Wanderers. She unfortunately is a know-nowt-Gooner.General Mannerheim wrote:i think the real disturbing thing to come out of all this is how many of you go the the match with yer missus!? wtf is all that about?

It wasn't.
It was a foul on Knight by Huth.
Please don't now "run at me" or "get caught up in the surge".
...oh, & I DEFINATELY bet I earn more than you !!!
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

It has been looking a bit dodgy a good 10 minutes or so before it kicked off with a bit of scuffling with coppers and stewards in that bottom corner.Prufrock wrote:
As for the trouble, in the ground was at the far end, but it seems no-one else was around Scott's and The Harvester afterwards where it kicked off big time. Massive crowd of Stokies being herded towards the train station, along the main road on the other side of that fence/hedge thing, singing some predictable Wanky Waderers song, don't think they realised Scotts was there. Some daft cow sat outside Harvester shouted 'White Army', then legged it, chant went up, their lot came right up to the fence doing the whole hard man 'come on then' thing, some pissed up Bolton chavs went right up to the fence doing the whole hard man 'come on then' thing, then to their apparent surprise, the Stoke fans did indeed 'come on', there were pint glasses, chairs being lobbed about, fence panels ripped out, I saw one skinhead, couldnt tell which 'side' he was on swing a big fence slat and break it over someone's head, blood, and all sorts. Two bouncers ran in to sort it, another legged it to get the po-po, who casually sauntered over and arrested about two people from a huuuuge melee. Completely embarrassing. It isn't a case of 'us' or 'them', rather a case of how quickly can our dickheads and their dickheads find each other. Plus side was, everybody came out to watch so we quickly ran in to an empty bar. Result.
Loads o coppers tearing up towards the Tesco from outside east lower n'all.
Nice lot.

Everyone in that forum thread isn't condoning the action of the said individual, in fact 2 of em give him a clout for doing it. There are nob heads at every club. Hopefully they'll find the guy responsible and ban him.
I know of a few Bolton fans on 3 year banning orders for away game mischief.

Petrov looked dangerous first half when we got him on the ball. He looks like he's regained a bit of pace and has a good understanding with Robinson.superjohnmcginlay wrote:Oh the game was a bit shit until Klasnic came on and livened things up a bit.
What does Petrov do apart from f*ck up with stupid flicks near our box?
What was frustrating about his error is that he's one of the experienced players. You'd expect that mistake from a Rodrigo or Alionso but not Petrov.

There's a pretty incredible write up of the game in the NoTW.
If you wanted to know what the game yesterday would've been like had Stoke played excellent football, Gary Cahill marked Elmander and Davies out of the game, Ryan Shawcross did the same to Kenwyne Jones and Kevin 'anything but an England international' Davies should've scored from a Jermaine Pennant corner...... well, you can read that.

I think Petrov was awful yesterday. His pace does offer an outlet but he isn't worth his place at the minute.
Agree with Pru that Taylor was an improvement although a relatively minor one. Mainly through the fact he didn't keep running and leaving the ball behind or making huge feck ups that cost us a goal.
I think Steinsson gets more grief than he deserves, he's not as bad as many make out. Thats not to say he's not a problem at times. His main issue appears to be every so often failing to follow his man and getting caught out. Happened a couple of times yesterday, their goal for one though thats more excusable than when he lost Etherington from simple off the ball runs a couple of times in the second half. But he's not AS bad as people describe at times.
Its good to have a "goalscoring" option from the bench, we perhaps need to use him for the last 15-20 minutes in tight games more often.
Overall its just good to have a team that keeps going no matter what!

All very "what else is new" Tom. The People report rhymes on about how Stoke were the better side and we were fortunate to win. Even Stoke, head of the cloggers list when they play any of the top boys, were made to look like the victims of something. Football journalists are overpaid know-nothings with more bias than a crown green bowl.Tombwfc wrote:There's a pretty incredible write up of the game in the NoTW.

Just read it, pretty shocking account of the game - even pointing out Stoke played it on the floor in between long throw ins, which wasn't really my recollection of the game. Comments about Kev pretty poor:Tombwfc wrote:There's a pretty incredible write up of the game in the NoTW.

To be honest, the sentiments are correct, Davo should have finished both those chance off.The late drama should not have been necessary had Davies proved as ineffective a saviour for Bolton as he had on his England debut midweek. The 33-year old, set up by Pennant's outswinging corner should have doubled Boltons lead but headed wide. He also passed up the chance to settle the match in stoppage time and looked anything but an international.
They also describe how Owen Coyle signed Paul Robinson to force out JLloyd in a different part of the paper.Tombwfc wrote:There's a pretty incredible write up of the game in the NoTW.

Stoke must play how Stoke must play - and good luck to them - and given the stick we have had from snooty snot-faced fans and managers telling us how the game should be played - then we should be the very last to do the same to stoke...
they can play how they tossing-well like within the rules of the game.
however - the use of the long-throw down the line like kicking for territory in rugby - is a new one on me... maybe they've been doing it for the while - but it's the first time I've seen it done so blatantly...
