Well they seem to have Taylor (who Petrov's been a marked improvement on (not)), and Steinsson with the possibility of Robinson and Elmander held in reserve.thebish wrote:Worthy4England wrote:Yes, but in the absence of Nolan etc. We still need someone to call shit and others that we "would give them a piggy back" should another club bid more than 10p.seanworth wrote:Before the season I could easily see Elmander wanting out. Right now I doubt it. I feel all the players sense something exciting happening at Bolton and want to be part of it.
We're just not very good at being supporters, if we have no-one who's shit and the focal point for some heckling.
Imagine paying all that money every week, and not having someone to boo!
I thought most people had settled on Matty as the new Nolan?
I think they must be sitting too close to Batty.
I'm sure when the players mentioned leave/retire or whatever, they'll have lined up the next target.
For me, sure some players seem to be more consistenly better than others. Given we don't have Man City's spending power, you would probably expect this to be so. I'm delighted with where we are in the league at the moment and as long as we can stay top half, there isn't a whole lot we're doing wrong.

Even those once-vital goals have dried up, and considering his profligacy (sp?) at weekend then it doesn't appear to be ending any time soonWorthy4England wrote:Once or twice - but not for a while now.East Lower wrote:In his own mind, probably forever.Lord Kangana wrote:When was Taylor our best player?

He bagged 8 in 29 starts last season. He's only had 2 starts this, with the rest of his appearances being less than 25 minutes.East Lower wrote:Even those once-vital goals have dried up, and considering his profligacy (sp?) at weekend then it doesn't appear to be ending any time soonWorthy4England wrote:Once or twice - but not for a while now.East Lower wrote:In his own mind, probably forever.Lord Kangana wrote:When was Taylor our best player?

Hardly a fair chance you're giving him.

Maybe not, but in his starts he hasn't come anywhere near, including the three at weekend.Worthy4England wrote:He bagged 8 in 29 starts last season. Nor has Petrov, given the obvious gulf in class people were telling us about.East Lower wrote:Maybe not, but in his starts he hasn't come anywhere near, including the three at weekend.Worthy4England wrote:He bagged 8 in 29 starts last season. Considering his positioning when he hit it (and the first one), I'd like to think he was very disappointed not to score. If our non-left footed captain can score from further out, I'd expect someone with a supposedly cultured left peg to have buried that one.thebish wrote:is hitting the post now classed as nowhere near?East Lower wrote:

Bish, are you purposefully trying to be pulled up for being a hypocrite in this thread. Only, you always have a pop at people for sweeping generalisations, yet you're throwing them round like confetti at a mormon wedding.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Our captains goal didn;t come from the ball dropping from 20 yards in the sky! It was a difficult chance and one that, had it gone in, would have been classed as a 'wonderstrike'East Lower wrote:Considering his positioning when he hit it (and the first one), I'd like to think he was very disappointed not to score. Considering who it was, a lot of people on here would have called it 'lucky'. He could have smashed it, but then the chances of it hitting the upper tier, considering how far the ball was dropping from, were considerably more, offering further abuse. He did well to control the ball as much as he did in order to sidefoot it with enough pace on it to be considered a shot. And, considering his positioning (as good as central to the goal) he was closer to the goal with it than almost any other player on the pitch would have got.boltonboris wrote:Our captains goal didn;t come from the ball dropping from 20 yards in the sky! Besides, Taylor's contribution to Saturday stretched beyond a handful of missed chances. His decision not to cross and use Cahill's great movement to help set up the second goal showed some great decision making, and I'd wager a guess that he won more second balls in the Spurs half than most of the Spurs players.
On the other side of the coin, I'd say that he does give the ball away more than a lot of others, and that he seems scared to take defenders on. He's not exactly a world beater, but he certainly doesn't the deserve the relentless stick he gets. He's an adequate Premiership player.

You're forgetting here Baaaab, that half the people on here think they're better than Steinsson - and given that Taylor is that much shitter, probably him too.KeeeeeeeBaaaaaaab wrote:Considering who it was, a lot of people on here would have called it 'lucky'. Makes you wonder why they're not actually playing football and earning £XX,XXX per week, other than you get the impression, they're marginally better at talking about it than actually playing it.
Actually, they might not be better talking about it either, on reflection.
