Yup, I'm in that club too, not nearly as good as some claim, and not particularly missed when Ricketts comes in, a good offer should be taken.thebish wrote:TANGODANCER wrote:Really?coffeymagic wrote:I wouldn't mind cashing in on Cahill. He's a good player but not the player everyone (else) is raving about.
I reckon so - yeah - he IS a very good premiership player - but not a world-class centre-back as some claim he already is - maybe he will be one day - but he isn't yet. I think Coffey has in mind the more extreme over-assessments of his talents.

I'd be happy to see Cahill go in the region of 10-15 mill, as Ricketts has always looked solid there, and we could get an able replacement fairly cheap. On the other hand, replacing Elmander will be a heck of a lot more expensive, and it would be a shame to lose him just as he seems to be finding his feet here. Might be made a little easier if he heads off to Turkey to be forgotten about, but I'd hate for him to remain in the Prem League as he would be bound to bang in goals against us!

Riga's not in the 25 anyway, the strikers in Jan if Elmander went would be:CarlosHernandez wrote:Maybe the plan is to sell Elmander in January, and get through the rest of the year with what we have? Klasnic will score, but Blake and Riga don't inspire much confidence within me.
Davies and Klasnic. And then Moreno, Blake and Ward would play in emergencies.

Honestly don't think Elmo will go anywhere for the following reasons; He's having a love affair with Coyle in terms of management. He's fitting right in with the team, seems popular and playing well, why would he want to go? The club won't be happy losing money on him. And who the fink is interested in him anyroad?
We may lose Cahill, which is a bit of a bugger but we'll live.
I'm a little concerned about Al-Habsi, but think he'll stay.
We'll more likely sell some of the fringe players.
But think we'll attract a bit of talent too now OC has shown we can play well (a la Petrov).

Ah yes the 25! And I had forgotten about Moreno. Those names don't sound too bad... although it may be testing times when (not if) Klasnic misses a few weeks injured. I'm hoping the big Swede stays.t_o_molloy wrote:Riga's not in the 25 anyway, the strikers in Jan if Elmander went would be:CarlosHernandez wrote:Maybe the plan is to sell Elmander in January, and get through the rest of the year with what we have? I think they'll try and cash in on one of our better players - Cahill, Lee etc, and sell some fringe players where required...RobbieSavagesLeg wrote:Honestly don't think Elmo will go anywhere for the following reasons; He's having a love affair with Coyle in terms of management. I know it's Clubcall but Cahill says he's happy here.

What about this scenario;
We have 33 points by the end of January, sell Jussi to The Scum or Arse for 5 mill, Al Habsi will become our number one keeper.
Cahill for 15 mill, sell and good luck to the boy, faithfull servant but hey big bucks is big bucks, champions league for him etc etc
Ricketts fills the gap left by Cahill, gives us 20 mill at season end to help balance the long term finances and find a new LB
BTW, Elmander (out of respect for the fact that the club have stuck by him in his lean years) will have signed a new contract and allow BWFC to at least recup their investment in him.

In regards to Jussi: they won't want him, and we won't sell him... and rightly so. Ali has proven he's worthy of a place, but Bogdan looked pretty comfortable in his three matches (no blame at Arse). And with Wigan already drooling over Ali, I'm thinking it will go that way. They already paid 1mill for this loan season didn't they?
in response to this Carlos, why won't they want him? And why wouldn't we sell for 5 mill? Wigan might be drooling over Al Habsi but they're championship next season, Al Hab won't want that and Jussi is a proven PL quality goalkeeper, much more reliable than Fabski et alCarlosHernandez wrote:In regards to Jussi: they won't want him, and we won't sell him... and rightly so. Can someone inform me about Moreno? I know nowt about him except hes subbed every once in a blue moon. I know hes a loan and youth player (19?) but should we not use him?t_o_molloy wrote:Riga's not in the 25 anyway, the strikers in Jan if Elmander went would be:CarlosHernandez wrote:Maybe the plan is to sell Elmander in January, and get through the rest of the year with what we have? If Jussi was ever going to leave us it would have been when he was available on a free. Nobody will pay £5m for him imolongy wrote:in response to this Carlos, why won't they want him? None of this would've happened if we'd sold Matt Taylor in the summer like I said, so don't cry into your milk now.
And besides, since when have we been able to hold on to good youngish players? I refuse to say something daft like Keep Calm and Carry On, but a bit of perspective, eh?

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Francis Lee and Peter Reid to name but two, who had very good England careers after leaving Bolton.Lord Kangana wrote:None of this would've happened if we'd sold Matt Taylor in the summer like I said, so don't cry into your milk now.

Depression is just a state of mind, supporting Bolton is also a state of mind hence supporting Bolton must be depressing QED
