It's not cheek just honesty and sound observation. Maybe you couldn't see it back then but he could. I think Europa league is very possible.SonsOfThunder wrote:Have you all missed this little gem of a quote at the bottom of the article?
CYL to reporters: "Bolton's goal this season is to stay in the EPL [Premier League] but I would like to lead Bolton to mid-table."
The cheek on that fellow.

I've been reading all Bolton forums and clearly people laughed off that prediction when it was said at the start of the season. Some said we'd end up 10th at best. But most thought we fight off relegation till June 2011
I really think there are fans who don't realise how great our football is this season. Maybe because of non-acknowledgement of how narrow the difference between teams is this season or fear of ending up disappointed.

Edit: just realised you're foreign so maybe lost in translation, he's saying it's cheeky that LCY thinks that HE will be the one who will lead us to mid-table, as though he's the superstar in the team helping the rest out. In contrast to a team effort.
I think, unless i've misunderstood too.
Nach dem Spiel ist vor dem Spiel.

Well if thats what he meant ok. But I don't think he's so egotistical he would say that. I think he meant he wanted to be part of the team that would lead the club to a top 6 spot. Especially after the Lpool rumours. Im pretty sure he wouldn't mean his only talent in the team would be enough to reach that objective.
Sorry if I confused people.
Anyways, I really believe its possible if Holden, LCY and Elmo don't get injuried too often.
He did create two goals yesterday though, greater header for the first and excellent cut back from Davies' through ball for Holdens goal. Great contribution what, almost makes up for his error against Everton!Svenia wrote:It's not cheek just honesty and sound observation. Maybe you couldn't see it back then but he could. Depression is just a state of mind, supporting Bolton is also a state of mind hence supporting Bolton must be depressing QED

Well I was just saying it was cheeky in the sense that no one at that time would have backed Bolton to be mid-table. I guess svenia has it right if he truly believed that we would be sitting so pretty on the table at this point in the season. I thought we would be living in mid-table safety but never guessed we'd be in 5th.
And I'd say his performance made up for the blunder at Everton, especially considering that he assisted on what turned out to be the winning goal. And I guess Kevin Davies' question to Holden is answered now.

Thank you for your honesty.... or your kindnessSonsOfThunder wrote:Well I was just saying it was cheeky in the sense that no one at that time would have backed Bolton to be mid-table. Hopefully no one will go in January, especially LCY and Cahill.
