I believe Bolton were in the bottom 3 when Coyle took over..

the original point of the thread is quite clear..
fatshaft saw megson wanking on on foreign TV about where we were when he took over...
fatshaft notes that Coyle is different - we also had humble league position when HE took over - BUT, Coyle does NOT bleat on about it.
it was just a comparison born out of seeing megson on TV with bis cracked record... (in more than one way!)
fatshaft's question was obviously and simply rhetorical - "....but does he fecking mention it every fecking week?" (implied answer - NO)
However, for some reason - as yet unexplained - FiO is now claiming that Coyle DOES bleat on about it when (in fact) he doesn't.

On the little bit they show on MOTD he doesn't mention it but if you look at a full interview on the BBC website, for example, he mentions it every time.thebish wrote:the original point of the thread is quite clear..

Unfortunately he has in most of his recent after match interviews! Well he does in those we get in Australia and those the BBC puts up on their website!thebish wrote:the original point of the thread is quite clear..

Depression is just a state of mind, supporting Bolton is also a state of mind hence supporting Bolton must be depressing QED

The point about the net spend bit was pretty much that. We had a manager telling everyone he had nowt to spend when he clearly spent more by a considerable margin than the previous manager. Both on transfer fees and salaries.plymouth wanderer wrote:He also mention's we having spent nothing on transfers with balancing with the sale of bash and loan fee Ali habsi not that i give 2 fecks
Understand when he took over, that the squand needed rebuilding, but once he'd done a lot of that, it became fairly clear he didn't know what to do with em.

See I think its look Coyle says we were in the bottom three when he took over a lot just like Megson.thebish wrote:the original point of the thread is quite clear..

Fatshaft?
For the record Coyle has said it a few times this season, particularly recently....that I am sure of.
But I don't care!
It just grated with Megson cos he'd use it as a way of justifying a defeat against wigan or something.
It still grates with me when Coyle does it, because it is soooooooooooo unnecessary!officer_dibble wrote:It just grated with Megson cos he'd use it as a way of justifying a defeat against wigan or something.

Erm, exactly, which is what I said in the OP, when Megson was summarising our game last week, as Bish also clearly understood.William the White wrote:This thread is just a wind up, isn't it? Coyle never mentions being in the bottom three. Unlike a previous manager.
Still, it's highlighted an agenda with a few on here eh, that they apprently hear him say it every week?

Just listen to his (that is Coyle's) interview yesterdayfatshaft wrote:Erm, exactly, which is what I said in the OP, when Megson was summarising our game last week, as Bish also clearly understood.William the White wrote:This thread is just a wind up, isn't it? There are a couple of things running through my mind here.FaninOz wrote:Just listen to his (that is Coyle's) interview yesterday

One is that it might be an 'in joke' in response to Megson's droning.
The other is that if Coyle does want to blow his own trumpet just now then parp away, owd lad!
May the bridges I burn light your way
And I would also say this sums it up for me too but then other fans are never happy unless they have something to moan about, eh?Bruce Rioja wrote:There are a couple of things running through my mind here.FaninOz wrote:Just listen to his (that is Coyle's) interview yesterday

Pfffft.
To be fair, this thread was made to say how great Coyle is for not going on about taking us from the bottom three, unlike that ginger nice person Megson.
If it turns out that Coyle does actually say that pretty often, then it's not pointlessly moaning to point it out, is it? If FiO had started a thread complaining about Coyle saying it, I'd be right with you.

Meh,
I know who I'd rather have saying it!
If at the end of the season Coyle has us wth a top 10 finish, I will listen to him say we were bottom 3 when I took over for as long as he likes.
Difference with Coyle is he is backing his statement up by being a good manager.
You don't here us fans saying when I started supporting the whites they were in the Unibond 3rd tier of the 7th league of the seas!

Well its got me confused, as I'm being made up as the "bad boy" and all I said was the truth with no axe to grind as Coyle is proving to be a good manager even if he sounds like a broken irritating record at timesRobbieSavagesLeg wrote:Most confusing thread of the year award?
