Cahill in the England squad

Post by Lennon'sEleven » Mon Nov 15, 2010 9:24 am

Sorry if this is covered elsewhere, but htought it deserved its own htread.

After JT pulls out, Cahill is in.

Actually, thinking about it, not sure this needs a thread. That just about sums it all up. However, I'm sure it will get some use when the game is played - provided he gets some pitch time. Which is doubtful on recent evidence.
Formerly known as Meg'sEleven. And Owen'sEleven. And Dougie'sEleven. We're getting through them aren't we...

:) England can piss off though, treating the best centre-half in the country (on current form) as a fecking afterthought. Wankers. Clueless wankers.

I do hope he plays Smalling & Richards, with Bothroyd upfront & Crouch, and we lose to the worst French team in living history.

I take this snub very personally, to Davo & Cahill, more especially to Davo now because at least Cahill got his back-up call, whereas Capello went for Can't Control...who is quite possibly the most overrated striker in the PL .

(and he's generally rated as shit)

So to sum up...fck Capello and fck England !

Exactly this.

Carlton Cole had even been dropped by Wet Spam this weekend.

A second division striker who's been let go by more clubs than you can care to name & has hit a rich vien of division 2 form for the past 3 months.

... & a Stretford reserve who had a few cameo appearances in what must be the worst perferoming Redsox defence in years.

Capello is a fecking numpty.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
"I understand you are a very good footballer" ... "I try".

Wonder if Mandy Carroll will make a miraculous recovery in time for our game next weekend....

I believe Capello should be experimenting, but at the very least he should be experimenting with players at least worthy of regular 1st team football.

I don't know if it's just me being cynical, but leaving out Cahill from the original squad and including lescott and the other fella, who's name escapes me; could it happen that the powers that be at their respective clubs have had a 'word' with the FA or whoever and said; "look we know he's a bag of sh*t, and isn't good enough to warm our bench, but if he's included in the England squad, it put's him in the shop window, and we might get a few more quid for him come January". Just my opinion like...............

Why would he though? His contract runs for another 18 months and then he's done. I bet he doesn't give a shiny shite about the future of English football, he has 9 million reasons to only focus on the European Championships.

COME ON FRANCE

And choosing Smalling demonstrates that he is focussing on the European Championships?

I'm surprised (although probably shouldn't be) that anyone who doesn't actually give two hoots about England, would want France to win? Either you care or you don't.

As ever I shall be supporting England, whoever they put out on the park.

It's a friendly, not sure why Capello wouldn't use it to see untried players - although some of them, I'm not sure they can still play the game they've been on the bench that long.

Crouch is untried but Davies isn't?

Whatever way you look at it, it doesn't scan. Like you I'll watch the game and I don't want the Cheese-eating Surrender Monkeys to win. I just feel Davies has been overlooked by Capello because of the sh*t from the press.

But you still come back to - it's a friendly?

We've no notion what Capello's looking for - perhaps he thinks he understands what Davies and Cahill can offer, having had them in training camps over the last 12 months or so. If it was a qualifier, I'd probably be a bit more miffed, but I'm still not sure Capello sees Davies as part of his longer term plans.

I'm not sure many do, but it still harks back to his promise upon appointment to pick 'those in form' - well he has failed to stick to that promise on every single conceivable level. Prick.

Wouldn't disagree with that - given his panicked calls to Carragher and Scholes pre-World Cup.

I'm no more convinced that Capello's the future of England either. :-)

I really wouldn't want to lose at tiddly-winks to France though.

Carragher: That one really grated with me, as I felt he had a crap season last year and a call up was not warranted. I was quite supportive but going into that WC he totally f#$KED up and that came back to bite him during the competition. He has to accept a lot of the responsibility for that shambles, but Smalling and Cole don't seem to be doing the trick. Not sure what planet he is on right now.
