I know, so why Crouch?Worthy4England wrote:But you still come back to - it's a friendly?Gary the Enfield wrote:Crouch is untried but Davies isn't?Worthy4England wrote:I'm surprised (although probably shouldn't be) that anyone who doesn't actually give two hoots about England, would want France to win? As ever I shall be supporting England, whoever they put out on the park.
It's a friendly, not sure why Capello wouldn't use it to see untried players - although some of them, I'm not sure they can still play the game they've been on the bench that long.
Whatever way you look at it, it doesn't scan. Like you I'll watch the game and I don't want the Cheese-eating Surrender Monkeys to win. I just feel Davies has been overlooked by Capello because of the sh*t from the press.
We've no notion what Capello's looking for - perhaps he thinks he understands what Davies and Cahill can offer, having had them in training camps over the last 12 months or so. If it was a qualifier, I'd probably be a bit more miffed, but I'm still not sure Capello sees Davies as part of his longer term plans.
Why not pick an England squad from the Championship's top six? Just in case they are in the Premiership next season.
Makes more sense than his current 'selection by media' policy.

Whenever I see or hear this phrase, emanating as it did from the most sub-primate American presidency in history, I think how monkeys could have done a better job than George W and - especially - how very good most French cheese is. Roquefort is my monthly treat. Whilst agreeing with all of this, I still manage to raise a little snigger.William the White wrote:Whenever I see or hear this phrase, emanating as it did from the most sub-primate American presidency in history, I think how monkeys could have done a better job than George W and - especially - how very good most French cheese is. Generally they go for a mix of some people who've played before and some who haven't?Gary the Enfield wrote:I know, so why Crouch?Worthy4England wrote:But you still come back to - it's a friendly?Gary the Enfield wrote:Crouch is untried but Davies isn't?Worthy4England wrote:I'm surprised (although probably shouldn't be) that anyone who doesn't actually give two hoots about England, would want France to win? Sure he could have picked from top 6 Championship sides - he could have picked from top 6 League 2 sides, just on the off-chance.
For his strikers, he has 2 untried and one with 3 caps.
Crouch (and I don't buy that Crouch is a media dahling) has 41 caps with 21 goals. So he's the only "recognised" striker that's played England international football...

I was in a bar last week with a few yernited fans, when a group of scousers starting singing "We all dream of a team of Carraghers".seanworth wrote:Carragher: That one really grated with me, as I felt he had a crap season last year and a call up was not warranted. I'm no more convinced that Capello's the future of England either.
I really wouldn't want to lose at tiddly-winks to France though.
It was quite funny when the yernited contingent sang back "We dream the same dream..".
Tickled me.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.
