Looking for an GIF of Elmanders goal

I'd agree with Merson in that a 30 yard smash always seems to raved about excessively, but I don't think Pavlychenko's fits that bill. It's left foot, from a tight angle and the technique is stunning. He doesn't try to hit it too hard. I've always personally thought the 'best goal ever scored' is Van Basten's, because the technique for the volley, and the angle make it far different to just a long range effort. I wouldn't put Pavlychenko's quite that high, but I don't think it fits that 'longer distance' goal model. For my money they are both utterly brilliant, and if anybody else gets near them this season I'd be surprised, but I reckon the Russian's will edge it. That's not necessarily to say I think it should though. One of them plays for Spurs you see....Tombwfc wrote:Paul Merson always says (yes I'm using Paul Merson as my source) that longer distance goals aren't as good because all the player is doing is just hitting the ball as hard as he can.
For that reason, I'm eliminating Pavlychenko's because I'm not convinced that he didn't just tw*t it and hope for the best. Great goal, but not as good as Elmanders.

And hoping....because the best in the business can't guarantee to do it every time. Granted players bend the ball and there've been some cracking goals scored (Robbie Blake's free kick for one), but Elmanders was sheer skill, ball control, balance and spot on placing. I know which I'd rather have scored.Tombwfc wrote:Paul Merson always says (yes I'm using Paul Merson as my source) that longer distance goals aren't as good because all the player is doing is just hitting the ball as hard as he can.

Just watched an ESPN football show called Goles de Europa down here in South America where I'm currently staying. Seems like the show focused mainly on South Americans that scored in Europe over the weekend and they had a top 10. A certain Argentinian midget could not beat out our mighty Swede for first place!
So at least someone out there isn't a biased tw*t regarding these things.
