Stuey Stuey, oh baby, He gotta goal!

Post by WanderingYank » Sun Nov 21, 2010 4:20 am

My first post here. Congratulations on your fine form. Underdogs that we are in football, us yanks love watching our boys play abroad. Naturally I'm glued to the set (tele) for every Bolton match now and am completely enjoying every minute. It's great to see Stuey fitting in so well. He's a good man.

That said I've come up with a chant. I think it's pretty good although not very original. There is even an alternate version for tackles. I tried doing a long version with the full song but my mastery of language and time proved insufficient.

To the tune of Louie Louie by the Kingsman. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wx-8_GI4 ... re=related

Stuey Stuey, oh no
He gotta goal
Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah
Stuey Stuey, oh baby
He gotta goal
Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah
-repeat-

Or

Stuey Stuey, oh no
He stole the ball
Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah
Stuey Stuey, oh baby
He stole the ball
Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah
-repeat-

Enjoy Trotters. If anyone thinks they can slap together a long version go for it. The risk being if Stu hears such things he might feel obliged to live up to such a standard.

edit: removed "he's got the ball" line.

As a Seattleite I applaud the "Louie Louie" connection.

I think the one about his tackling is probably more apt for Holden's performances as the likes of him and Muamba's tackling ability hasn't gone unnoticed. Woot!

I prefer this

to the tune of "Kids from America" (Kim Wilde is it? I'm not sure, I just know it from too many eighties discos and GTA Vice city)

He's the kid from America
holden!
he's the kid from America
holden!
Every time he gets the ball they go wild
na na na na na (ad infinitum)

Clearly as my chung yong lee chant went down so well on the terraces, this will be a smash hit.
"Young people, nowadays, imagine money is everything."

"Yes, and when they grow older they know it."

Hahahha, some scamps round by me yesterday tried to get a new Elmo chant started yesterday to the same tune as that scouse Torres one. That didn't take off either Verbal, I think we're just not that inclined to sing new chants :D
Pfffft.

We need some thats for sure, think we only sing about 3 different songs
If I should die, think only this of me:
That there's some corner of a foreign field
That is for ever England

Indeed. That's why I included it. It could even be used for Muamba although its a bit harder to sing. Looking over it again I think the "He's got the ball" should be changed since he likely wouldn't have the ball by the time that line comes up. I'll get right on that!

Hah. I wasn't aware The Kingsman were from Portland. I'm surprised I've never heard a Louie Louie chant from Sounders fans. Perhaps they are too enthralled singing Seattle... Sounders... Seattle... Sounders... for.. 90...... minutes... :D

Good to have another fellow Yank on board. :D Would you say there are many others back in the States that are aware of Holden's rise to stardom?

Spurs got three,
City four,
Bolton Wanderers got one more
With an Elmo, Davo, Chung Yong Lee,
Wanderers are the team for me.

Stock, Aitken, Waterman - move on over.
