Important games

2 coming up the Oranges and the dingles with the council house dwellers getting in the way, I'd happily (well not really but you know what I mean) lose to the mancs in the hope they finish above the redsoxs as long as we trash the other two

Blackpool big banana skin.

They want this. Really want this.

I hope we don't get carried away with our own press. Hard work and skill have got us this far. They will get us furhter if we stick to the task in hand.

Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Blackpool are going to be going all out for this game but again another team that plays 4-4-2 so it's going to be open and maybe we an take advantage of this. COYWM.

Yes - potential banana skin.

We should go 4-5-1 and try and nick a win.

Looking forward to Blackpool - another manager who plays to win. Could be good, and, if both teams are at their best, an excellent game which Bolton will win.

Blackpool. We will score. They will score. We should score more, but could end 1-1.

I'm picturing this game as two kamikaze fighting warriors in battle. Just screaming incoherently before sprinting headlong at the enemy, all guns blazing, and seeing what happens.

They don't play 4-4-2. But they do go for it, and with our clean sheet record and their having the worst keeper ever I'd be surprised if it ended 0-0.

If there is such a thing as a kamikaze fighting warrior I bet he's not sporting a shooter. 8)

They go for it,we go for it (and it's oddly nice to say that) so should be a great game. Can't see either side keeping a clean sheet, hopefully we're better at attacking than they are. Teams like this (thinking back to Burnley last season, Hull season before that) it's best to play them as late as possible, when the adrenaline and excitement of the Premier League wears off.

It probably will be a 0-0 though...

Sorry for being ignorant here, but what exactly is our history with Blackpool that makes this such an important game for them?

On 24 August 1974, 17-year-old Blackpool fan Kevin Olsson was fatally stabbed behind the Spion Kop by a visiting Bolton Wanderers fan
The first football fan to be murdered at a game, I think

I was there and it was unpleasant

Think Zulu would've been there too and probably closer to it as I'm much younger than the owd b'stard

So, it's their chance for revenge

They've actually had 20 chances for revenge in the preceding years and never been more than piss n wind

Owd Bastard here. :D

I posted the following back in May:
Zulus Thousand of em wrote:I can confirm that the youth was tried and found not guilty. I knew him. There were two guys, him being one, suspected of the offence. I knew them both. I cannot remember if the other one actually went to court, after all this time.

I saw the lad who got killed, before the game. (He was stabbed during the half-time interval and either died in hospital or was dead on arrival, I'm not sure.) He was a big blonde haired lad, as I recall - and an amateur boxer, from local newspaper reports at the time. I saw some of the worst football violence that I ever experienced that day, both before and after the incident - from both sets of supporters. I'm glad that those days have gone.

Incidentally WtW, there were quite a few Bolton fans of West Indian origin at the game. The Blackpool police, in their ineptitude, pulled as many as they could and held them all until after midnight before releasing them. My brother did not arrive home until around 2.00am because the driver of the car that he had travelled in was a half caste (I'm not sure if that's a PC term any more, but that's how we referred to the offspring of West Indian and English parents in those days.) Neither my brother or his friend had anything whatsoever to do with the incident, apart from being on the Blackpool Kop (along with thousands of other Bolton fans on the day.)

It was the same day on which Alan Waldron broke his leg badly, following an innocuous tackle. He played again - but was never the same player as before.
Just a horrible, horrible day.

Thanks for the history lesson lads. The game has certainly cleaned up it's image a lot in the past 20-30 years it would seem.

Lets hope it's a friendly match where no one is stabbed and Elmander scores a hattrick.

Can't see it being 0-0 against Blackpool, more like 2-1 either way, but I'm going for another high score 4-2 to us as they will go all out for a win and could leave themselves open to an Elmandrr hattrick and a Davies Penalty!

Don't expect anything against City, probably 3-1 or 3-2 loss and we almost always draw against Blackburn so 2-2, and finally Sunderland are playing very well at present so a 2-1 loss there as well.

As some say we are dooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooomed over the next few games!
Depression is just a state of mind, supporting Bolton is also a state of mind hence supporting Bolton must be depressing QED
