Would you swap Elmo for Anelka now?

Agbonlahor? On that basis, you might want to stick to dispensing STD advice to gentlemen of the night (unless, that is, you're not actually His Holiness).

You've had a mare, son.

That it's going to lose its mind
Be more kind, my friends, try to be more kind.

It's like asking would you swap Cahill for a 35 year old centre back who's currently in better form than him. Of course you wouldn't.

I guess you mean "other than all the other Clubs he's played for and his international experience"?

I'm glad you're not picking the team bud.

Macheda might be a good un in years to come. At the minute, you really would swap him - would you?

Hernandez - c'mon your just suggesting him because he's young and plays for United aren't you?

Rodallega - almost identical goal-scoring record to Elmander with same number of games played.

Van Persie??? He's always fecking injured - great signing he'd be - Reckon Bolton could sustain a "record signing" who averages 13 starts a season for Arsenal (over 7 years)

Balotelli - frozen out by Mourinho - prize cockend. Don't think we'd risk him either.
Likewise I'm glad you're not pulling the purse strings.

Not really - Elmo's nowhere near 35...he's 29 so hardly coming to the end of his career.

I don't think anyone's saying Macheda/Hernandez won't be any good, rather that it's a bit early to tell.

He wouldn't be worth the same amount playing for Bolton as he is playing for United. We already have our ex-Real Madrid right back for that anyhow.

You really think Van Persie would be a good signing for us by swapping him for Elmander, when the liklihood is that he plays less than a third of every season - sound investment advice.

The Pope wrote:I was merely responding to truewhite, who stated that he wouldn't swap for Balotelli because he hadn't proved anything in the Premier League. Elmander hasn't proved much more than Macheda in the Premier League, but obviously has internationally.

Seriously though, if you wouldn't swap Elmander for Macheda you're either incredibly short-sighted or just completely blinded by pro-Bolton bias.

I'm almost certain Coyle would bite your hand off if you offered him a straight swap.
I'm almost certain that he wouldn't. Sorry mate, just my opinion, but Elmander has been scoring and playing all over the continent for 10 years. Admittedly, he's taken a while to get going here, but Macheda? He's been playing for a year, and I've seen plenty of 19 year olds across the Premier League who look like superstars when they start up, but when everyone gets wise, they end up playing in the lower leagues. Neil Mellor, anyone?

At the moment I wouldnt swap him for Anelka as it would disrupt our team ethic and gameplan.

That said, come june there is a few strikers I would take for him and Anelka would definitely be up there. On his day the best finisher in the league.

Another few strikers I would like in a Bolton shirt:

Bent(darren)
Defoe
Rodallega
Tevez
Pavlyuchenko(sp)
Vela

Anyone who would swap Elmander for Macheda must be mad, or just blinded by bigclubitis.

N'Zogbia is a midfielder and I would have him playing for us aswell but i'm talking about strikers.

Vela is a class act IMO but obviously not getting in at Arsenal with the likes of Chamack, Bendter(Sp), van Persie, Arshavin etc..

I think a loan move would be good for him.

As for the Macheda for Elmander talk, Give over  !!

Going back to the original premise, in a hypothetical situation would I swap Anelka with Elmo? Yes. Everytime. Just from what they have shown in their respective careers, Anelka is a player of a different level regardless of current 'form'.

Of that list, the worst suggestions are Berbatov and Macheda.

Some of the better suggestions are the likes of Tevez. I wouldn't mind seeing a Tevez, Defoe or a Owen type of striker at Bolton to complement KD, Klasnic et al.

There was nowt wrong with that signing, I still maintain that he was a better player than most gave him credit for

Yes - he's looking pretty good playing in Saudi...

After doing "not much" at Nantes, Roma, Depor and Bolton.

Exactly, an excellent pedigree. Just a shame that his manager(s) didn't have any faith in him

Did you see him play for any of those clubs?
