Actually, it does still. But regardless, I agree that dog references when it comes to Korean players is getting old and lacks imagination. "More World Cup goals than Wayne Rooney" is, on the otherhand, sheer genius.

No, you certainly won't see ads for it but at the same time, it is not really frowned upon. Really depends on how you define mainstream. I think to put it accurately, it is not a common dish and can only be found in specialty restaurants. Also, I am sure the dog-eating days will be gone in a few generations as less youngsters are prone to canine consumption.
