They played for both clubs.

...AND TODAY’S HALF-TIME DRAW IS BEING MADE BY ......

PLAYED FOR BOTH CLUBS

I was just thinking, idly, about who had played for both Bolton and our recent opponents, then moved my thoughts to the next game and then ... well, I wondered if I could think of a player who’s played for Bolton and xxxx. Do we have such a link to every club currently in the top 4 divisions ? There are a number, especially lower league and new clubs to the leagues for which I cannot think of any.

These are the players who, if they were wheeled out to do the half-time draw, fans of both teams would gratefully applaud.

Some are easy, but some of the newer ones are harder. I’ve kept myself, where I could, to players who were at a reasonably similar level in both clubs so, where possible, avoiding ones who may have turned out once at the very beginning or the very end of their careers for one club, yet been a mainstay elsewhere. Loan players, either way, have been kept away from also.

I’ve included the current top 4 divisions, though I read that there are 130 clubs who’ve been there at one time or another. Also, I decided to list just the one player in each case so others have room to add their choice and any player only once, otherwise I’d just need to put Neil Redfearn, Gavin Ward and Aiden Davison about 30 times each. Oddly I think we are one of only 4 league clubs who have never employed John Burridge.

If anyone sees fit to add Conference teams, or maybe the harder job of Scottish links, be my guest.

Don't think he did, he's assistant manager at Dagenham so does that count?

Curious one, but .... (Wiki, admittedly)
The club was relaunched under its current name on 21 June 2004, nine months after Wimbledon F.C. moved to Milton Keynes. Milton Keynes Dons are legally a continuation of Wimbledon F.C. However, the club makes no claim to the history of Wimbledon F.C., and after negotiation with the Football Supporters Federation, the club agreed to entrust the trophies and memorabilia of Wimbledon F.C. to the London Borough of Merton. This step was taken in part to ensure the recognition of the Milton Keynes Dons Supporters Association by the Football Supporters Federation who had previously boycotted them.
so I think it follows. however, if they were forced to claim no history of the previous club that case can be argued too. Either way, I'm not losing too much sleep over it.

Nope, he didn't .....

Leyton Orient
Blackburn Rovers
Plymouth Argyle
Bolton Wanderers
→ Huddersfield Town (loan)
Huddersfield Town
→ Grimsby Town (loan)
Grimsby Town
Woking
Grays Athletic
Fisher Athletic
Peterborough United

... and nope, unless he played for them (& it looks like he didn't) it doesn't count.

Carry on trying guys ...

He sure did, but I used him for Northampton ;

1964–1967................Wolverhampton Wanderers
1967–1968................Bolton Wanderers
1968–1969................Northampton Town
1969–1971................Carlisle United
1971–1976................Birmingham City
1976–1978................Blackpool
1978–1980................Luton Town
1980–1982................Sheffield United
1982–1983 ...............Cardiff City

and I wanted to put Nicho in. I was tempted to put Henry Mowbray, but having already used Dennis Peacock there was no more room for "worst player ever to represent us".

Sorry, no idea.

If anyone had the will I'm sure it's possible to see who moved directly to or from us, but the ones who played for two clubs two, three, four clubs apart would be near impossible.

I'd suspect our various near neighbours too, but that's just instinct.

I know, I know ..... Alan Gowling.

Sheesh, what was I thinking of ?!?!

Tell you what though, had last Saturday, the half-time draw been made by Wyn Davies then the fans of both clubs would have a seen a legend of both places. Many, admittedly, too young to remember him, but nonetheless a great player and a good man.
