Re: Wanderers v Blackpool
What a ridiculously entertaining game.Good subs by Coyle and I thought M Davies was blinding.Blackpool were excellent. Not sure why Jussi was having a lie down when their 2nd went in but he made some good stops afterwards.A few players were not quite at their best today but no heads went down. There was even a Klasnic pass in the penalty area. Whatever next?

If Mavies were to start most games, who would you drop: Mu or Holden?CarlosHernandez wrote:Thought I'd mention that I'm loving the potency of our bench. Sure we could use an extra mid, but to have klasnic and petrov to bring on is a luxury. Mavies who usually warms the pine should be a starter, Moreno looks promising, and Blake did the business against Brum.

thought mavies was class today. when he got on the ball he was direct and rarely gave the ball away. drifted out of the game at times but then so did a lot of them!
impressed with coyles subs! moreno, klasnic, davies, elmander and petrov is exciting to see when two goals down!

Re: Wanderers v Blackpool
Today was a mixture of emotions. First ten fine, last ten breathless, the bit in between was annoyingly poor. Muamba looked lost without Holden in the middle, and they dominated the midfield for most of the game. Ricketts and Robinson looked very flat-footed at times, and they seemed to want to ping it behind the equestrian with a bit of success.
Petrov's and Davies's goals were incredible.
Onwards and upwards.

hel of a game davies certainly took his chance i think it depends on oppistion i think we are gonna need holden and the mu against man city cos they ain't gonna like it up em but against the lesser teams mavies would be brill what ever coyle decides it a nice headache to have the worse thing we could do is ignore his performance to day
at times when he runs with the ball at the defence he reminds me OF I AM GONNA SAY IT MESSI so quick low centre of gravity no fancy tricks jst steams past the player's he was frighting at times we all new he got the talent jst needed the chance and the confidence

Re: Wanderers v Blackpool
Oh well turns out we could turn up and not given Blackpool enough respect. I foolishly thought anyone could come to the Reebok with only a 4 man midfield and be sent packing with a pasting, but it seems not. Blackpool seemed to have an extra player everywhere today, they just seemed to want it more than us and outfought us in key areas.
And yet we created chances, we missed some corkers and placed a few too comfortably near the goalkeeper. 4 free kicks was it in decent areas? Davo's chance in the first half eventually bettered by his 4 yard miss, albeit with a bit of a push.
Feel a bit exasperated because we were miles off the pace for much of it, but hopefully it can serve as a well-timed wake up call not to be complacent. Had that call come against City next week we could have faced a thumping like Fulham got.
Another home game with less than half the possession. Tut tut. Did we really miss Holden that much? I don't know, I think that gives a disservice to Mark Davies who I thought was an effective replacement.
Ricketts seemed to have trouble dealing with that high diagonal ball and had one of those 'mares a few posters did say he was capable of. Knight switched off a few times too many and poor Fab was nowhere all game. With only Cohen as cover that area looked pretty desperate today.

we did manage 24 shots though - with 14 being on target..
for all their possession, blackpool managed 16 shots in total - 10 on target...
if I had to choose - I'd choose more shots on target over more possession...

I was a bit surprised, I don't know where 2k seats were
Re: Wanderers v Blackpool
Am I allowed to be a bit disapointed after that?
Great goals, and great to still be so hard to beat, but it was a huge missed opportunity. People can look at this and the Brum game and say 'Look at the spirit to come back from 2-0 down', but that's overlooking the fact that we were 2-0 down in the first place. And it could've been more.
So yeah, stunning goals, but a match to forget.
By the way, after today there should never, ever, ever be any more debating over whether Steinsson is our best right-back.
