Two that always make me smile are "... like a wizard's sleeve" and (with apologies Bobo) "... like a clown's pocket"bobo the clown wrote:... or one I heard only this week referring to a lady of easy accomplishment who was said, by another woman I hasten to add, to have one " ... like a vandalised bus seat".
As 'Ticker' Unsworth, my English teacher always said "imagery must be meaningful and clear."

And, a blast from the past indeed! Ticker Unsworth - what a star!

Credited by no less than Bury-Dog Millionaire Director Danny Boyle as the man who led him to his 8 Oscars, Frank would own Jake anytime.
Anyway, what sort of fckg name is 'Jake' for a teacher ?
There's only one way to settle this ...... FIGHT !!!!

I know this is a slight diversion from the topic but, since everyone else is doing it, why was he called 'ticker'? I think I must have known this at one time but it was a long, long time ago...Zulus Thousand of em wrote:Two that always make me smile are "... like a wizard's sleeve" and (with apologies Bobo) "... like a clown's pocket"bobo the clown wrote:... or one I heard only this week referring to a lady of easy accomplishment who was said, by another woman I hasten to add, to have one " ... like a vandalised bus seat".

Re: Adam Johnston
He was called Ticker due to his scam breaking ploy of having homeworks shown to him prior to the class on the topic beginning. He went through "ticking" the pages so you were not able to add to it while the class then followed.bettyrasta wrote:I know this is a slight diversion from the topic but, since everyone else is doing it,Zulus Thousand of em wrote:Two that always make me smile are "... like a wizard's sleeve" and (with apologies Bobo) "... like a clown's pocket"bobo the clown wrote:... or one I heard only this week referring to a lady of easy accomplishment who was said, by another woman I hasten to add, to have one " ... like a vandalised bus seat".As 'Ticker' Unsworth, my English teacher always said "imagery must be meaningful and clear."![]()

I'd take Adam on loan in a heartbeat, one of the best young left sided players around at the minute, may not have the same deliever as Matty or a on form petrov, but is extremely fast and can be great given the chance

I lived in the Halcyon days at Thornleigh when, as the last of the grammar intake, I was introduced, in my second year, to the delights of Sixth Form girls running around my school wearing Gym Knickers. They, of course, wore other articles of clothing but they were incidental. Gym Knickers!!!!! I now need a lie down.

I was only saying this to my therapist last Friday, whilst eating my lamb hot-pot and custard.
