Re: Bolton vs York City
Ah, remember the second paragraph now. There's a bit in the David Conn book, which resides not too far away from the khazi (interesting piece in there about the business model of "business model that every club should dream of" Arsenal, which I can't wait to use on any moral guardian from that fecking sanctimonious pox of a club that infests here ever again). I have no recollection of the first bit, which means I must read up on your chapter again.
Was trying to convince Mrs K that I really should be coming up to Bolton that weekend, so I could take the Kebablette to her first ever football match. Then realised I'm working that Saturday. Damn.

You got your club back - just. Well done you guys... Fantastic... I feel slightly guilty that I didn't know more about this saga...Danny_York_City wrote:Ah yes, my fault for not explaining. Basically, we got nothing out of it as "dodgy chairman 1" sold the ground to his own company for next to nothing, and tried to evict us when he left the club (and setting up a 4.5m deal with a house builder to boot!). We put pressure on the house builder and they relented, ending up with us rented the ground back off "dodgy chairman 1", as he sold the club for one pence to "dodgy chairman 2" (John Batchelor, now dead, was the fella who wanted to rename Mansfield Town "Harchester United") came in. Because the club and the ground were separate entities, and the deal had already been done, the money from the naming rights went to "dodgy chairman 1". So we had three years of the ground being called that without any money for it.KeeeeeeeBaaaaaaab wrote:Without wishing to sound rude, or arrogant, how much did that "stupid" deal bring to the club at a time when you'd just been shafted by chancers?Danny_York_City wrote:Bootham Crescent is the name, after the stupid three year deal to rename it that Kit Kat bollocks expired.
Dodgy chairman 2 walks out of the club, admits to the York Press that he asset stripped us and we're all fools for allowing it, and we go to within 30 minutes of going bust. The supporters raise several hundred thousand and save the club, but by then half the team had walked out due to being unpaid, so we went from top of Div 2 with four wins from four at the start of the season, to 22 games without a win, and slipped out of the league into tinpot conference hell.
BC is now back in the hands of the club.
These feckin bandits seeking to shit all over our football should be drowned in the puke of a thousand fans... Slowly...

Re: Bolton vs York City
Yeah, I did start thinking that Danny might have ended up on the M61 taking the trajectory of a Jussi goal kick, even after setting off in the direction of the stadium.
I hope Danny sticks around. I want to find out what happened when they went to Northwich a couple of years ago, only for the match to be abandoned after 3 seconds due to these Ultras! (which are, essentially, a bunch of 17 year olds with a few flares and a shitload of bedsheets)

What in God's name are you on about?
We've never had a game called off for anything other than the weather and the tragic death of David Longhurst.
This was the last time we played at Northwich--

Re: Bolton vs York City
It wasn't a wind-up. I just remember a massive shitstorm emanating from a match between you and Northwich that, to me, from what I read in the non league press, sounded like a massive over-reaction. I thought I remembered the match being abandoned very early.
Must have my information ballsed up.
So I'll apologise if that is the case. Now, if you can clarify that information in a civil manner, that would be good.

Re: Bolton vs York City
The Non league Paper, (which is pure c##p btw), ran a headline, 'the threat of the ultras', after one of our away games at Woking two years ago. Basically the JRs put on a display with smokes/flares etc and the NLP took issue with it, even though neither set of fans cared and in fact it must have inspired the Woking fans, as they set off flares against Brighton in the previous round of the Cup the other week!KeeeeeeeBaaaaaaab wrote:It wasn't a wind-up. Anyway, we won that game 2-0. It wasn't called off and as i said, we haven't had any games called off for trouble or ought like that.
This is a video of the display from that said game--

and match report, just to prove it wasn't 'called off' !--

Re: Bolton vs York City
Thanks for clarifying. I knew there was some footage of something that happened around that time - thought it was Northwich. But I also remembered that there was a lot of mileage that the NLP (which I found pretty useful, but then at that time I was involved in a team a little further down the pyramid), and a number of hand-wringing do-gooders from other clubs, took with glee in order to demonise some kids with flags and flares.
A lot of colour like that would be good in the Reebok. Just don't expect it. The away end stewards are bastards.

Re: Bolton vs York City
If the match was this weekend I could see Coyle putting out a strong first team side, but if we have a bad December and have significantly dropped down the table then we can expect a heavy reserve side on the 8th to save the "better" players for a difficult January in the premiership.
Depression is just a state of mind, supporting Bolton is also a state of mind hence supporting Bolton must be depressing QED

Re: Bolton vs York City
Good draw this, would have preferred it to be away at York, cracker of a day out that would have been!
But still without being "arrogant" its a game we should be able to rest the first team for (injuries permitting of course) and still not be too worried.
What are the rules re ticketing prices for FA cup matches? Do we just have to agree a pricing structure with York or is there more interference than that?
If possible it would be good to make this cheap as chips, £5 adult ticket £1 kids. (I'd even go farther £2 adults £1 kids) but I'm not sure either is allowed. Can anyone clarify?

Well, it is if you go from via American Golf, I suppose.KeeeeeeeBaaaaaaab wrote:About a Jussi goal kick from Horwich Parkway, which is but a 10 minute train ride from Bolton.
Right, Danny:
Assuming that we'll be kicking off at 15:00 on Saturday the 8th.
York Station, Platforn 9X at 10:58 to Manchester Picadilly, arriving at 12:19 on Platform 3.
Go up the steps and walk over to Platform 14.
There, get on the Manchester Airport to Barrow train at 12:46. This'll get you to Horwich Parkway (right by the Bok) at 13:13.
There are a raft of places right by the stadium where you can get a nosebag prior to the game.
May the bridges I burn light your way

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Barrow in Furness is, without doubt, the home of the most inhospitable people that I've ever met!bobo the clown wrote:Imagine Barrow on a cold Saturday in January.

Re: Bolton vs York City
Learn from history, i seem to recall a similar situation regarding the use of "second string players" (including several capped internationals)was deployed against lowly York City by a bloke called Alex Ferguson. This resulted in nothing short of the humiliation of UNITED on the hallowed turf of Old Trafford.
The city team of today are a far better side with a great manager and if the bubble does not burst before this match BW will need to be at full strength to beat them.

Re: Bolton vs York City
Mick, it won't be a dis-service. By 'second-string' It won't be academy kids and ballboys, it'll be experienced Premier League players who have been on periphery(sp?) of the starting 11. Players like Klasnic, Alonso, Ricketts, Mark Davies, maybe even Sean Davies. These arse still top players who earn tens of thousands per week and would be expected to dutifully perform on the Premier League.
They'll also be up for the game as it's their chance to impress. Coyle's team only picks itself when the previous 11 have won. Otherwise, he makes changes.

The last time we played them that springs to mind was a night match at Burnden in about 84. Asa Hartford scored with an absolute peach.CAPSLOCK wrote:I'll go to the replay though, years since I've been there
