Tis a decent deal, and yes, you can add Kinect. I very much doubt that you'll need any extra Gigs, but you can buy the HardDrive's spare/second hand from places like Game.Harry Genshaw wrote:Can anyone help me with a couple of queries on the X Box?
My old PC has gone kaput so I've decide to invest in one purely as a gaming console. I'm not interested in playing on line or owt just playing a few good shooting and driving games.
Theres a deal on at Asda £147 for a 4GB console + 1 recent game. It's within my price bracket - a good deal? Would I be able to add more GB + kinect later on if I wanted?
Also, are there any strategy type games? I had a browse around and could see loads of FPS (Medal of Honour etc) & Platform stuff but horror of horrors - no Football Manager
Strategy games are in the minority on the console, but I can't say that there's a huge demand for them. Also, they tried running FM on the 360 a few years back - if you played it, you'll know why they didn't carry on with them. It's a brilliant PC game, not so much on the 360. Get yourself FIFA/Pro Evo (I advise FIFA)
Re: The Official Xbox 360 Thread
i think the drives on the slim arent bog standard regular sata ones (they werent even standard on the old shape xbox, i dont think). it'll be a fancy , different but still propriatry, (sp) bastardized socket, knowing microsoft.truewhite15 wrote: Tis a decent deal, and yes, you can add Kinect. Re: The Official Xbox 360 Thread
Cheers guys. I assume then, that the 4GB console will play all xbox 360 games and only new releases on Kinect (sp?) will be incompatible?
I'd better start reading the other 75 pages on this thread to see what games everybody recommends. I've got my eye on Fight Night 3 or 4 as there was never a decent boxing sim on the PC and I used to love Evander Holyfields Boxing on the old mega drive.

Is it easy enough to set up? I might have a go it's just my internet connection can be sporadic at times and I would hate for it to crash in the middle of some epic battle.General Mannerheim wrote:Don't deny yourself online gaming, Tis fookin brilliant!Harry Genshaw wrote:Can anyone help me with a couple of queries on the X Box?

When you buy a console, you get a free month long trial of Xbox Live Gold, which is the premium package that you can play online on. You just hook the console up via an ethernet cable (or alternatively buy a wireless adaptor for the 360) to your router, and bang, you're on. Gold costs £39.99 a year for the subscription, but it's well worth it...Harry Genshaw wrote:Is it easy enough to set up? no the 4gb console is the slim one too.
i'd still buy a 250gig slim one, less arsing about adding one later, and cheaper overall, but it aint my money.
the old shape'll just give him jip when it breaks.

The 4gig is a new slim one, yeah and they are supposed to be more reliable and quieter too.Harry Genshaw wrote:Do the newer slimmer models avoid these red rings of death I keep reading about? Get one Harry, you'll not regret it. The 360 is the single greatest invention that man has ever made. Even better than Sky+.

theres 2 new ones -the 250gb one , and the 4gig-er.
i'm saying dont piss about getting the old shape at all. get the alienware designed new one. looks cool as. has wifi built in too.

i'd get the hard drive one, meself as to me its cheaper together, £190/195 or so. and amazon are throwing in a basic hdmi cable too as well as a game. deals are about.
the one youre after is 147 , £5-15 for a hdmi cable (if you have a lcd/plasma/flat tv) now -and if you get into it- plus £70 for a drive laters and £15 for the headset laters , the way your doing it could cost you more in the long run.
but like i said it aint my money, if youve only got 150 then youre doing it right. just avoid the old shape altogether.

This here Kinect, has anyone got it?
Does it work? And do I have to build an extension on to my house in order to play it as some suggest?
Thinking of buying at some point, but undecided.
