He isn't a 90 min player, for sure. But Owen doesn't play him for 90. He offers the unpredictable and the occasional outstanding - not all that occasional either if you take on board LK's offerings. Start with Taylor for an hour. Bring on Petrov when we need to change things. Or just have some fun.

This. Petrov has been extremely poor in a number of games I have seen this season, but even then he is a very talented footballer who can score or create a goal in a moment. He hasn't been fully fit for a lot of the season, so there is every chance we haven't seen the best of him, but even if this is as good as it gets it is well worth his wages on a free transfer.

We've played about 15 games, I'd prefer to give the lad a bit more time before castigating him as an expensive flop. He hasn't set the world alight as yet but he's still learning about his new teammates etc, I remain confident that he'll prove an excellent signing.

Hasn't set the world alight? He's been gash. But then he hasn't played football in two years. I don't think you just come back from that and pick straight up again. We've seen in flashes the quality is still there, but it is going to take time. I'm still hopeful he'll turn out to be a cracking signing, maybe kick on for the second half of the season Jay-Jay-esque, but Taylor the much better option at the mo.
