Re: Bolton vs York City
yadda yadda yadda. If my local pub team was only team affiliated with the city I live in, with 140,000 other peeps, then im sure they would get similar numbers turning out for an FA cup game vs the 6th best team in the land. But they would still essentially be a pub team.
Have fun in your Cup final.

now you sound like billy-big-club cock! I really hoped Bolton fans would never get like that...

I'm shamelessly reactive, so seeing this lad come in here and being friendly makes me bristle, hence my reactions. I just find it funny that he's painting some of us as big-club glory huntersthebish wrote:East Lower wrote:Not bad at all, well done, I hope you enjoy your day out at a proper stadium. From't BENThe club are also expected to announce reduced ticket prices for the FA Cup game against York City, now confirmed as taking place on Saturday, January 8.
Sub-£10 and I'll consider it, otherwise I'll leave it to those Minstermen to come up and enjoy a day out somewhere with comfy seats

If you actually read what I posted, you'll probably come to a speedy conclusion you badly misread it.East Lower wrote: I just find it funny that he's painting some of us as big-club glory hunters![]()
Re: Bolton vs York City
Aye fair enough. First read made it sound like you were going for some sort of fan 'competition'. Being around the likes of Newcastle, Sunderland, West Ham and Spurs over the last few years means we're sick of that! 3rd round cup games seem to vary from around 7k-15k depending on opposition etc. If t'other lot bring a lot it's normally about 12k at least. Not sure whether your lack of 'glamour' would affect that, or whether that number is the bog standard 8k or so who would watch us play if it was against world famous Me and My Mates FC. Hope you have a good day and that we beat you in a replay!Danny_York_City wrote:Oh I know. Already said it would be totally understandable if this wasn't attractive to a lot of Bolton fans. My reference to Premiership fans was more about the dullards who get on coaches (including one which goes from York - much to our disgust) to occasionally to wave their little green and yellow scarf at Old Trafford. Was hoping you lot weren't made up of that kind of support and didn't think you would be as a lot of you will remember the times where you were at the same level as us. You went one way, we went another.Prufrock wrote:In fairness I doubt you lot would get to excited if York were drawn at home to me and my mates. We probably wouldn't even get any twatty flares. There are a lot of those you mention, but equally those who go every week I think find it hard to get quite as up for it for games of this kind. It's a bit chicken and egg. The atmosphere is crap so some don't go but the atmosphere is crap coz there's no-one there. I wouldn't build your hopes up though, it'll be quiet. I want a replay.Danny_York_City wrote:Shocking. I thought you'd all be queuing to get tickets to see Michael Rankine in the fleshthebish wrote:the crowd will basically be, you lot.Danny_York_City wrote:Still waiting for our tickets to go on sale. Would imagine it'll be soon, but we've only got Boston in the tinpot FA Trophy coming up on Saturday and then Luton away (ohhhh lordy, those plastic hooligans again) the following Saturday. Imagine ticket sales will ramp up when we're back at home in the league later this month.
Can imagine this is hardly a glamour clash for you lotSo what do you reckon the crowd will be? Less than half the normal home attendance?

Then again, we heard that from the Stoke fans last year and they sorta turned up in the end, as much as their notorious "noise" was shite and Delap's freaky throw ins was the only thing that got them singing that one song they know. Typical Premiership prawn sandwich "I'm only looking forward to when we play Man U" Sky Sports armchair nonsense. Hope you lot aren't like that.

We've been to Wembley twice in the last two years fella.
You were only averaging 3-4kk more than us in the early 90s. You lucked out and got a millionaire investor. We got a Scottish Tory intent on sending our club to the wall.
Wonder what your crowds would be if/when, the backside falls out of your club. You spend 8 years down in the Conference, loosing to Histon, St Albans and Canvey f###ing Island and see what your attendances would be, given you get 22k now and 13k against the likes of Lincoln in the cup. You lot didn't fancy watching UEFA Cup football, never mind lower league football.
High and mighty Bolton fans! Unbelievable

Re: Bolton vs York City
Oh ffs. Is today some sort of combined grounhog day of all the balls themes to come up on football forums to all at once. If so can we have some counterbalance and a Turkish invasion. Number of fans means cock all. Our number of fans who would turn up if we had had similar fortunes to you is probably a few thousand more than you get, mainly because we are historically more successful and Bolton is a bigger area. This means nothing when the teams play each other. It doesn't make us better or you better. If you actually outnumber us on the day it doesn't mean you 'deserve' anything. I quite like talking about things like us selling out our allocation for City amongst other Wanderers coz it is nice to see that optimism around the club, but to use it in some kind of collective cock-measurement contest? NO! This is why Spurs fans, almost to a man, are cocks. And Sunderland. And West Ham. Geordies at least seem to have some sort of (understandable) mental thing going on which makes them funny.Citygent wrote:'Cup final'General Mannerheim wrote:yadda yadda yadda. We got Bruce Rioch, a chairman chucking money at us had never happened until Eddie came along.
Over 70 years in the top flight too, we must have been very lucky over the years.
Anyway, looking forward to the match, sad day when Bolton fans come across like MASSIVE fans, though.

Well this went south pretty fast, although it was nice to see it took seven pages before we were called a pub team.

Yeah, it's not really fair, that. You'll get some people like that. You'll also get some people who give it the big "we're better 'cos our fans are louder/earn more money/sell more branded cushions" no matter what "size" their clubs are. As if "size of club" actually means something.

Well prus post was too long and kebab just adds 'This' to other peoples posts so I'm not sure what the argument is here, but I wasn't being disrespectful, well perhaps a little - but surely any team in the conference playing away at a top flight club is like a club final!? You enjoy the day regardless. If you win, bonus - you get another cup final!

Re: Bolton vs York City
I hope they enjoy there day trip... Will be a shame for them when it 7-0 to Bolton after 45 minutes.. But they can take comfort in knowing that we'll probably land Chelsea away in the next round and get tonked...
