Players transformed under Coyle.

So far since Coyle has come up, we've seen plenty of players transform into new players. The most obvious ones are Elmander, Knight and Taylor.

However more recently, two players have stood out for me. Sam Ricketts, and in particular, Paul Robinson. Ricketts looks a threat going forward at right back and is proving a very useful player as he can fill in at center back. Paul Robinson is a new player all together. Strong, good passing ability, not as dirty as he once was. I honestly thought when Coyle came in, he would be dropped in favour of Samuel or Gardner, but it really is a testement to Coyle's ability that he's managed to turn him into a decent left back.

Best game I've seen Ricketts play at fullback for us today.

I'm quite fan of Steinsson, but that shirt is now the Welshman's and its for Steinner to grab it back.

We actually look like we have a competitive (if a little on the light side) squad. Sure, Coyle has his favourites, but he appears to play players on form, and generally if you have a good game, you start the next one. be interested to know what comes of the Petrov spat. I hope he handles it aswell as he's handled everyone else, because Petrov played well, and you can understand the frustration. but we were down to 10 and the team comes first - its the gaffers head on the block after all.

On Steinsson's Twitter, someone asked him why he didn't get his place back after he was injured. His reply was something along the lines of "We won last match." That seems to be Coyle's mentality, and it's good way to boost morale. If a player comes in, plays well, but gets dropped in favour of someone who was previously injured then that player will be abit miffed.

We also do have more options across the field then I can ever remember. A look at our bench today, we had three players who could come on and change the game, yet we barely used them. Who would have thought Muamba would have been the one to do so!

Robinson for the most part has played much better than most people rated him at the time of the signing.
Knight improved when Cahill was out last season. Still has his mental lapses but seems to keep getting better and better.

In general Muamba has also improved although he is much better when having Holden as a partner.

I'd imagine that OC will tuck Ricketts in to CB and Steinner will come back in at RB.

Oooh. Maybe both? I know that Mavies's first booking was his fifth - I've no idea as to how picking up his sixth, subsequently, and the red card affect his bannage though.

Robinson's signing was absolutely slated on here at the time. In some forum member's minds he was about our 4th choice LB behind JLS, Gardener and even Taylor!

I became confused with the horrific thought of Taylor at LB. Surely even Alonso, however inexperienced would be better? At least it is his natural position.
