I've got to say that in just under half a year Stu Holden has become my favourite Bolton player. He just epitomises the type of player you want in your team. From when he made the last ditch tackle on Gallas which lead Petrov on the way to our 4th against Tottenham, to the run he makes from half way just in the hope that SKD gets a flick on against Blackburn yesterday. He has so much energy and i've got to echo some sentiments from earlier in this thread where people mentioned how good he is when tackling from behind. Fantastic player, lets hope he is a Bolton player for a long time to come.

Personally i also agree with the substitution of Petrov. In a long, long time i haven't seen a player who either provides u with rocks or diamonds like Petrov. He sent in a few great deliveries in the first half but also misplaced countless passes. In the 2nd half he looked dangerous on the counter attack and really ran himself to a stand still when we were down to 10 men. You can't argue with Coyle wanting to give Robinson some support (though the mood he was in he probably didn't need it) but personally i feel Taylor has stepped up other the last month or 2, and as well as providing support in defence, i always felt he was likely to get on the end of a Davies knock down or two.

Also to me it was a great game to watch, just to see how far we have come. If it stayed at 11 vs 11 i would have been shocked if it didn't end in a 0-0 draw, but to watch Bolton respond like they did after the send off, you can't ask for much more.

One last bit of praise for Paul Robinson. He is a player fans wouldn't exactly like your club to sign, but when he is on your team, boy do you recognise the effort and commitment he puts iin.He gives 100% and typifies the spirit in the team, a well deserved M.O.M and if he plays like that consistantly, many more are on the way.

I don't comment much, but a happy wanderer is a happy wanderer!

I don't think he was frightened, Samba and Nelsen just did a good job on Elmander and Davies. They were tight on Elmander to stop him running at them.

Elmander was superb in the last 25 minutes or so!

He was, once he realised that Samba is shit - but in the first half he'd jump out of the way of him, or find somewhere to stand away from the nasty man.

Still replaying that Holden goal in my mind, what a feeling

When Davis got sent off and Lee was subsequently subbed, Moreno was warming up right in front of me. He kicked his bottle in frustration obviously knowing he wasn't going to get on. Looked royally pissed off. Didn't see him smile once. Can sympathise with him though. Sucks to be on the bench and then not even get a run.

Something worthy of note is that the energy levels in the side seem to have increased considerably of late. The players ran their bollox off yesteray (and in a few games pevious), chased everything and just kept at it for 90 (make that 96) mins. Coyle really has got some real spirit and fight back in the side. Something not quite so worthy of note seems to be the reports that mainly hint how Big Sam and Blackburn lost the chance of three points rather than how Owen Coyle and Bolton gained them. Still, we're used to that. Maybe they haven't noticed league positions. Onwards and upwards. :)

yeah - I noticed that... but then we can't complain at the bigging-up we are also getting now... the accepted narrative re. Bolton has changed - it used to be "Bolton are attritional hoofball" - even when we weren't... let's hope the label sticks..

to be fair to journos for a moment - if you had watched the game as a neutral - hard for any of us to do - you could easily write a story about B'burn losing the chance of 3 pts...

we were down to 10 men - initially we were not firing on all cylinders - they did have a couple of potential penalty appeals (not least Knight's handball) - they had a chance cleared off the line - and Givet spurned at least 2 guilt-edged chances.... add to that some suicidal defending on their part - and it's not THAT hard to write a BLACKBURN CHUCKED AWAY A CHANCE AT 3 POINTS angle...

While I would never question SKD's legendary status, I thought he was awful until he set up Holden. He didn't have a lot of succes in the air - as always against Samba and Nelsen - but every attack that wound up at his feet died an ignominious death.

i agree, i thought SKD couldn't get into the game, he got a nice early clump on Diouf and was absent til Holden's goal.

did you not see the superb goal-line clearance before Holden's goal? or the assist for Moo's goal?
I'm not trying to run Davies down. Merely pointing out that, in contrast to LK's post, if anyone still doubts SKD is a legend, this wasn't going to be the game to change that person's mind.

I actually got to go to the game yesterday :). What a day to return! Personally I thought Coyle got it tactically wrong. Davies has been playing well but you've got to play Muamba and Holden in there against a Big Sam Blackburn!!! On another note we've not won a game with him in the midfield....I'm not to sold on the boy, even taking off the table yesterday's performance, he's clearly talented and offers more end product than say a Danny Guthrie as witnessed against Blackpool but i still maintain he's mainly ineffective.

However despite Big Sam nullifying our attack it just showed how much these players want to play for Coyle. When the sending off happened we were all guts and glory and responded fantastically to setback. Something Megson would never inspire! Special mention to Ricketts and Robinson who I thought were our best players yesterday. Big up Coyle and the boys!!!

Where's Sir Nut when you need him ???
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Special mention for Jussi from me, seeing as noones mentioned him. Not perfect but a couple of well timed blocks kept us in it early on.
I'd rather support Bolton than be you.

We'll be lucky if we survive now.

And he does know his footy that Ginola lad, and his wine. If we don't finish top 4, no one will remember. If we do, he'll be known as footies top tipster for years to come and MOTD will be showing that clip on a loop..............

I was replying to shuttgunn's specific claim that KD was "absent until Holden's goal" - I pointed out two very obvious game-changing moments before Holden's goal when he certainly was not absent.

He is doing well at Blackburn. Though a lot of their fans aren't exactly thrilled with him.

And there is potentially trouble brewing for him on the horizon there.
There's been trouble brewing on the horizon with them since Allardyce was appointed. I'm sure if you keep saying it, that eventually it might come true.

And then you'll be able to say "Told you"..

75 matches at 1.32 ppg, isn't too shoddy, on bugger all transfer budget.
Obviously my info is pretty inaccurate!
