I was really looking forward to an open attacking game yesterday from two sides who had surpassed all expectations And Sunderland and were sitting 6th and 7th.
A mouthwatering top of the table clash involving two teams who like to play football And Sunderland
What I witnessed was a Bolton team of yesteryear kicking lumps out of anything that moved in a Sunderland shirt . Chris Foy the ref lost the plot . He booked Catts for a shit one on one tussle then had to balance it out with his trip on Elmander by not giving anything(which was blatant) Trip? You mean the challenge when his ankle was bent over?. Cahill's challenge on Bent was shocking but got the same yellow card as Catts for a good old fashioned tussle. KD blatantly elbowed Anton which was again missed as well as Welbecks dive outside the box (fixed for you). I've watched Bolton a few times this season and they play some great stuff which was clearly evident at times yesterday when you opened us up so why did you resort to bullying tactics which I believe was your downfall in the end by giving away needless possession when you were looking dangerous:?

It's interesting to see the opinion of England U21 skipper Lee Cattermole on here. I don't know if it's triggered by bitterness, but I have to say that it couldn't be wider of the mark.

The fact is that the lad is a cracking footballer - his range of passing is fantastic and he gets up and down the pitch for 90 minutes.

Opposition fans tend to spout drivvel about what a "thug" he is because, to be honest, that's the easy line for them to take. However, the fact is that he is victimised by referees unlike any other player in the country.

Don't take my word for it however, the facts speak for themselves. Lee Cattermole has committed only 22 fouls in 18 games this season. Not one of those fouls has been a remotely dangerous or high tackle. TWENTY FIVE players in the premiership have committed more fouls than him, however he has the most bookings and the most sendings off in the division.

How can this be? I hear you ask. The answer is, like I say, that referees just can't wait to book him. Look at his first booking on saturday for example - shoulder to shoulder with Holden, Holden goes down on the half way line, booking. No other player would have been booked for that.

Fortunately, it dawned on the referee that he had dropped a clanger and he rightly decided not to penalise Catts in the second half.

That's the trouble though - they book him for the lesser incident, but the much much worse one was unpunished. He's a sinner, make no bones about it - and this will always mask his footballing ability - same with Barton. It's a mess of his own making though.

I agree with your analysis and league prediction. It'll be close, Bolton always have a solid team and you have a great nack of grinding out results regardless of your players/manager. I like Coyle, he's an honest, hardworking manager and he has the potential to be a top class manager.

Muamba can misplace passes, I know that. But his work rate and ability to break up the play so well make him a great player to stick alongside Holden. So I'd rather stick with Mu.
